Years ago, there was a happy family that lived in a small, beautiful house : a father, a mother, and a little girl.

This story begins : The father lost most of his money in an investment. He was shocked. However, he took a silly way to forget his problems : he became a drunk.

The mother was very sad and this affected her health. Her body grew weaker until one day she could not get up from her bed at all.

She called her only daughter and said, "I'm sorry, I have to leave you now. I can't give you anything except this gold necklace of mine. Keep it well so that I know that you will always remember me."

The mother closed her eyes and died.

Her death made everything worse. The father didn't stop drinking. He loved his wife deeply, but he didn't look for another way to forget his sorrow. The little girl he had, didn't come to his mind even for a while. He just wanted to drink and drink.

The little girl was very sad. She just lost her mother and her father didn't care for her. He even had the heart to beat her if he was not in a good mood.

What could a little girl do in such a situation? Only went to her mother's grave to moan.

One day, when she went to the grave, there, behind the cold stone, she saw a puppy. It looked hungry and thirsty and sick and belonged to nobody. So she took it home.

The puppy followed her anywhere. The little girl loved her puppy, too, for it was her only friend. If she was happy, the puppy would be happy, too. When she was unhappy, the puppy would came near and licked her hands and wept with her.

When the sun was shining brightly, they would go to a lake near the house and play there until it was time to go home.

Days passed by. What was the most important thing people needed to go on living? Love. Yeah, perfect answer, but you couldn't buy something with that. The father went on drinking so bad that one day he ran out of money. It was evil how drinks could make your mind clouded over. He didn't think to stop drinking and how to earn his family's living.

He could not think clearly. All he knew that he needed money right away. For what purpose? For some bottles of cheap beer.
