The world has changed...and some say, not for the best. In order to help you, readers and potential writers, understand this futuristic universe, we present you these useful sections:

TECHNOLOGY

"With the end of the war, humanity saw itself trapped in a stagnated progress. All efforts were spent to rebuild society, or so we thought...The leaders on the rise secretly developed revolutionary methods to treat diseases, to feed the poor and to extend life. However, those weren't open to everyone...If you have enough credit, you have Heaven on Earth. Otherwise, you are tormented by a nightmare while you are still awake."
--Kenesha "Savant", "The Written History of Mankind", Chapter 49

The world has changed in many ways. Technology may finally bring comfort to our lives, but only if you are fortunate enough to have thousands of credits to pay for that. This is the state of technology nowadays:

Hovercrafts: Propelled by magnetic fields and electricity, these vehicles defy the laws of gravity, allowing theirs users to drive in the sky. Ancient automobiles can still be found in museums or among the ruined cities.

Memory Cards(MCs): By the end of the twenty-first century, CDs were replaced by tiny, metalic cards with larger amounts of memory. One card holds ten times more capacity of recording than any CD from the twentieth century.

Nanomachines: Finally applied in reality, these microscopic devices work in a molecular level, remodelling matter itself according to our needs. It's commonly used by the rich to keep their youth.

Holo-Vision, Holo-Vids: The use of holograms is very common now, replacing the old T.V.s.

Cyborgs: In the aftermath of the Twilight Crisis, all studies on cyborgs were considered illegal, and most of them were destroyed when their refuge, Gamorra Island, was destroyed in a nuclear strike. However, in recent years, doctors like Erik Drexler started running clandestine experiments.

AIDS: Kasner Inc. has found a cure to that disease, saving his kind(vampires) and humanity at the same time. Their researches have also developed ways to prevent skin cancer, protecting individuals from the sunlight with successful effects.

Weapons: Most guns are energy based now, but projectile weapons remain well preserved in museums.

Teleporters: These chambers can instantly transport someone from one hemisphere of the globe to the other, and are most used by the SS.

GEOGRAPHY

"Not even the landscape was spared by the Twilight. Places filled with beauty have become the home for those who felt the marks of war in their own skin. The mutated, the rejected...humanity's most saddening failures."
--Kenesha "Savant", "The Written History of Mankind", Chapter 45

New York City: One of the battlegrounds during the war, the city didn't survive it undamaged. Half of its population was killed, and 90% of its area is ruined. There is a small block called "Oasis", inhabited by the people in condition to pay for it. The Black Razors constantly patrol those areas, always looking for gen actives with recently manifested powers.

Hong Kong: Legally bought by Jan Kasner, owner of Kasner Inc., Hong Kong has become a safe haven for all vampires, who no longer hide their identities in this time. Kasner has granted them legal rights, and they don't have to be hunted anymore. Rumors are that this might be the first step towards the creation of a "Vampire Nation", fully recognized by the UN.

Utopia: As the name says, this city is a paradise. Its citizens can live for centuries, thanks to the use of nanomachines. There isn't anywhere on Earth that has reached this level of advance.

Mutation Zones: As a consequence of radioactive contamination, humans in many areas around the world have mutated in beastial forms, ressembling more animals with human features, even in their attitude. Researches have proven that the "Feras", as they are called, don't have any trace of humanity left in their minds. The UN has isolated them from the rest of the world, using them as material for their genetic experiments. The Feras can more likely be found in London and Gamorra Island, which are the most affected locations.

RELIGION AND MOVEMENTS

"Without hopes for the future, humanity has been looking for comfort in the past. The proliferation of twentieth movements shows the new government their insatisfaction in a passive way, avoiding a merciless retaliation, that would only bring more disgrace to their lives."
--Kenesha "Savant", "The Written History of Mankind", Chapter 51

The Church of Gort: Banished from society in the twenty-first century, it has been reborn 20 years ago by normal humans. Originally, it had been created as a "religious" group for all cyborgs. Now, it preaches how superior those beings are than the SPBs(Super Powered Beings). Their adepts are considered insane by the general public, not consisting in a real threat to the SS.

The Flag of Freedom: Considered terrorists by the UN, this small group of humans fights for the end of the SPBs tiranny, and the return to old world order, that, despite all its problems, was much more fair and free than today's reality. They don't use modern equipment, reinforcing their rejection to all aspects of society. Recently, they have been bonded with liquid symbiotes, getting more strength to their battle.

PERSONALITIES

Much to my distaste, I became one of those symbols, along with many of my closest friends. I really think this kind of bygotry can do more damage than good to us. When I die, I don't want to be remembered as a legend, with fantasy stories about my life. I'd rather be remembered as someone that did whatever she could to create a better world, like thousands of others do everyday. If they aren't recognized, why should I be?"
--Kenesha "Savant", "The Written History of Mankind", Chapter 51

Kenesha "Savant": Savant has made her alien origin public knowledge. In her book, "The History of Mankind", she details everything she has witnessed in her millenia on Earth. It quickly became a best seller, and she is now one of the top ten richest people in the world. Most of her credits are spent to educate and save the low casts. Despite her obviously negative thoughts on the UN policy, she suffers no harm. The UN fears that killing such a public figure would turn her into a martyr, inspiring others to resist their will.

Jan (pronounced Yon) Kasner:Actually the vampire John Sansker, this man is a famous industrialist, and the new leader of the Vampire Nation. Used his resources to safeguard his kind from human hate. His industries all around the world have played a key role in the cure of diseases throughout this and the last century. Recently he has written an autobiography entitled, "Coming into the light: The Jan Kasner story". The public hasn't given much response to it though. After the recent revelation of his true identity, it isn't likely it will ever leave the shells.

The Shadow Strikers: These SPBs serving the UN have replaced the army, and are officially responsible for protecting the world. Hundreds of SPBs have joined their ranks. They are controlled by a mysterious leader whose real identity is kept hidden from the citizens. They have bases in the main capitals of the world.
