The first High Priest of L.I.L. was Don Medina. Don Medina was a descendant of a great duke of Armada fame.

When Aleister Crowley created L.I.L. he considered its principles & purpose consistent with his understanding of masonry. In Aleister Crowley’s own words, he stated that it was an experiment which seems interesting and the conception sublime.

Although Don Medina withdrew into the silence and was never heard from again We, the Heirs of the Order continue that Holy Work that began in Mexico in August of 1900 e.v. .

We are older than the O.T.O. which was taken over by Aleister Crowley in 1912 e.v. and older than the A.: A.: which reformulation did not take place until November 15th , 1907 e.v. .

Therefore our Energy is of a Nature most sublime.

Nevertheless, the Order began four years before A.C. received the Book of the Law and this has delayed work by creating the awkward situation of all the rituals having to be adapted to the Law of Thelema. The Book of the Law in 1904 e.v. made the original perceptions, insofar as a masonic body, inconsistent with the New Aeon.

Therefore, it became the duty of future members of High Grade to conceal themselves in secret and reconstitute the Rituals and Grades to comply with the Law of Thelema.
