The Constitution-class starship is perhaps the most famous of all the vessels in the history of Starfleet. First commissioned in the 2240's these served as the center of the federation fleet before the larger and more powerful Excelsior class ships appeared in the late 23rd century. There are two Constitution-class configurations, the original and the refit, both featuring phaser banks and photon torpedo launchers. The original starship Enterprise and the second one were both constitution-class starships.
