Community Service

There have been several community service projects we have done over the years. We have held card tournaments for the local food bank, pulled weeds and planted flowers for the Pasco Senior Center, and numerous other activities.

If you sponsor an event and would like our assistance, please E-mail us at dcstaudt@gte.net.

March of Dimes Walk-A-Thon

April 2002

Ye Merry Greenwood Renaissance Faire

June 2002

This marks the fourth year our chapter has been asked to assist with the Ye Merry Greenwood Renaissance Faire, held in Howard Amon Park in Richland, Washington. Members patrolled the park at night, allowing the vendors, artists, and actors a much-need chance to relax and prepare for the next day.

Our main role in assisting with the faire is staffing the Inn Yard, a main stage in the park for the Ye Merry Greenwood Players and vendors to sit in the shade and enjoy some free food!

Past Community Services

American Diabetes Association Walk for Diabetes

October 1999

Our chapter volunteered to assist the American Diabetes Association with their efforts to raise money for diabetes research. Our members helped prepare refreshments for everyone who participated in the walk, then established a reception line at the finish to show our support. This event raised several thousand dollars for diabetes research and treatment.

Camarilla Casino Night

June 1998

This was a Camarilla-sanctioned game with a casino theme. Our chapter provided food, prizes, and a mock casino with blackjack, poker, and roulette tables. We also had a small TV which ran old vampire movies. Many of the Camarilla members attended in costume, many in the 1930s gangster style. The event was free, donations were accepted (food and/or cash), and prizes were raffled. This event collected over forty pounds of food for the Tri-Cities Food Bank and over $100 for the Children's Miracle Network! Thanks to everyone who took part in this event!

Columbia Center Mall Safe Halloween

October 1997

Our chapter organized a group to assist with the Columbia Center Mall Safe Halloween event for kids. The group decided to go with a Star Wars theme rather than the traditional vampire or werewolf costuming normally associated with the Camarilla. A few of the costumes were rented from a local costume shop or privately owned, but most of the costumes were hand-made. After about six months of planning and numerous late night sewing bees, we had about ten costumes made, including Jabba the Hutt's red-haired dancer, Boba Fett, the Emperor, and the Imperial Guard.
