Absurdist Poetry

absurdism-the philosophy which is based on the idea and belief that man lives in a meaningless universe and the search for order will bring him and the universe into conflict.

There. That definition should prepare you for the poetry that awaits...there's not really much more that I can say about it.

Amplitude

Once, once, once...OUT!
No turkeys today.
The king of the beans
Said: "Wash my car." and
The dogs know where you live.

The pig-man takes all day
An hour. Dog, dog, pig, dog;
Leather is a rat.

"Pots and pans", says the marmoset.
"No more juice for thee. For
Thou shalt see no sunrise
Green, or blue, or puce!"

Rutabegas take the turkeys
For rats and beans never lie.
Dog, pig, dog...pig, dog, pig.
The car is clean until the rain comes. Evil is the root of all money, and so on...

Resonance

An ode to those who believe in divine punishment by faeries with stripped birch rods

There is a camel on
The summit of that
Hill.
A hill which no man has
Ever travelled.
The women who have set up
Camp there see the camel.
And the dogs bark at
The strange giraffe-creature
Creeping, slinking, slithering
Toward the camel in all its
Glory.
Run, camel, run, and
Like everything under the
Sun, the blues, the purples,
The yellows, the oranges, quinces,
And papayas, it is
Blatantly obvious, oblivious,
Stupendously there...
...too late now.

In all the splendour of
A teetering pig dog,
The giraffe-thing;
The beast, the new
Statement of evolution,
Cries, "Dammit, Jim!".

The Veranda of the Pixie Tribes

On the eve of a brilliant vegetable love,
Came the giraffe, scourge of the grapefruit.
And it did set the clocks all wrong,
Much to the dismay of the peasants.
Cosine squared theta plus sine squared theta!
One;
The chosen number of the fearsome giraffe.
And a tangent is revealed in this circle
Called vegetable by the fruit-bringing children.
Three pi radians over two!
A good angle;
One from which to approach the giraffe.
The sun rises over this fuzzy creature;
The essence of dank, damp, unclean.
And so it seems that the ravens are of a mammalian
nature.

Okay, here we go-these poems were created, and are owned by Katy McGirr. So don't take them away from her (even though I don't know why you'd want to)-they're all she has! For the love of God, leave the girl's poems alone! *ahem* Yes, it is time for my medication now...

Let me out!
