Linwood Foster's Anime/Gaming Links Page

Valkyrie in Action

Version Log

Greetings to those enchanted by the glory of the Net and the WWW. This is my little window to the universe of Japanese Animation and Gaming. For those who don't even know what Anime is, take a look at this for a very good explanation by Eri Izawa.

My goal here is to provide links to a variety of sites that have Anime and Gaming themes and content. Most of the sites listed here are ones that have caught my interest in one way or another. I will try to keep the links as up to date as I can, but occasionally one will expire before I have a chance to update it. If you find a link like that, please leave me feedback in my guestbook.

For more than a year I was the Vice-President of UMBC's Anime Society. I have also been President of the Baltimore Polytechnic Institute Gaming Society, and Colonial Guildmaster for the VGA-Planets Guildpages. Since then, I've been active on the Internet in many different ways, including being a moderator of the Rec.Games.Mecha newsgroup, and more recently, Ringmaster of the Rifts Webring.

VGA Planets Links

If you're looking for links and information about VGA Planets and its many addons and files, here's a few:

A while back, a programmer by the name of Alex Ivlev created an update to the DOS interface for VGA Planets. The VGA Planets Assistant (VPA) allows you to play the game without using the original DOS client . While you still need the client present to get the registered features, VPA completely takes over all other functions. In my opinion, VPA is probably one of most important addons for this great email game. You can find the most up to date version of VPA here.

Another program of much importance, The Killing Floor is a monumental change in the way VGA Planets is played. Whereas with the standard Host set-up, ship combat takes place individually, TKF (The Killing Floor) introduces Fleet Combat. No longer will your ships fight alone. Their friends can help them out now. You can get a copy of this program here.

If you've ever been on the VGA Planets newsgroup, I'm sure you've seen a discussion about various add-on races for the game. Well, I went ahead and modified the datafiles to make my own new race, The Kilrathi from Wing Commander. Basically, I've had the Kilrathi take over the Crystals race, and replaced them in the race list. Eventually I'll make a complete list of all the changes that I made. But In the meantime you can download the file and check out the changes.
