CURRICULUM
FOR RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
We structure our religious education
program by the
following Religion Standard Guidelines as endorsed by the Archdiocese
of
Indianapolis:
- Present
an understanding of the human need for God based on revelation and
faith.
- Read,
understand, interpret and apply Scripture to life.
- Illustrate
basic understanding of Catholic dogma and doctrine in light of the
creed.
- Recognize
the Trinity as God.
- Illustrate
a basic understanding of Church.
- Demonstrate
an appreciation for prayers as the primary way we come to know God and
the community as the context for sharing faith within and beyond itself.
- Exercise
responsible stewardship for the gift of creation.
- Demonstrate
the importance of sacraments, with an emphasis on the centrality of the
Eucharist, in the life of Catholics.
- Examine
the variety of Christian vocations as ways to respond to the Baptismal
call.
- Acknowledge
and affirm the dignity of the human person and community.
- Apply
Catholic principles to interpersonal relations.
- Know,
critique and apply social justice principles to personal and societal
situations.
- Engage
in service to the community (e.g., family, parish, local, national and
global) in response to the Gospel call.
- Develop
a moral conscience informed by Church teachings.
