Yar. J's Guide To Newbieness. In Notepad. Ores! Ores are used to make stronger armor than can be bought in stores. You take a bronze helm, add in mithril ore, and you have a shiny new Mithril Helm. This makes ores pretty spiffy to have. But. It generally takes 10-50 ores for a single item. Given the rarity and prices... i'm hoarding mine, for later. Ores generally sell for 1k. Or much, much more, depending on the ore. Ores to watch out for are Steel, Gold, and Mithril. Steel isnt super rare. But EVERYTHING uses it, so its always in high demand. There are three different types of Ores. Mineral, Jewel, and Crystal. Minerals are metals such as Steel, Mithril, or Gold. Jewels..are jewels. Topaz, Diamond, Garnet. Crystals are only endgame..like Power Crystals, and Dark Crystals. Items! I dont think ive found a single item that doesnt have a purpose. If you find something, and dont know what its for, odds are its for a quest you dont have yet. So I'd save em. Crafting! You can make a lot of weapons, armor, and items by crafting. Keep an eye out for Leather (drops from animals) , Screws (crafted,or quest reward), and Processed Wood (Crafted using Firewood or Tree Branches) . Those things are used in just about everything. Equipment! Generally you get a new set every 5 levels. There are odd pieces tho, so you should keep an eye out for em. No point buying a level 20 helm, when you also get a level 22 one. Equipment has a range of possible values for attack/defense. Storebought items will always be the middle of the range. If the item drops from a mob, it can be randomly weaker or stronger than the storebought version. Drops! Every mob drops at least several different items. Every mob drops one Mineral Ore, and one Jewel Ore. Most mobs also have an "Etc Drop" (Snail Shells, etc). Many mobs also have uncommon equipment drops, and rare drops. Rare drops are DAMN nice. but DAMN rare. Level 2 Blue Snails have a chance to rare drop a level 20 Mace, for example. But its insanley rare. Scrolling! YOu wont have to worry about this for a long time, but you will definately hear about it. Scrolls are a type of item that enhance weapons and armor. Lots of ways to get em, but basically they take an item, and add +1 to it, similiar to D&D +1,+2, etc items. If you look at an item, the "Upgrades Available", is the number of times you can scroll that item. Its important to note that scrolling can fail, which uses an upgrade, destroys the used scroll, and does nothing to the item. Scrolls can do many things, and have different chances to succeed. a 10% (chance to suceed) scroll is nearly..junk. a 60% scroll is ...expensive. PQ! PQ stands for Party Quest. You will certainly hear about it travelling thru Kerning City, because thats where it starts. Its done when you hit level 20. Its exactly what it sounds like, basically a group dungeon crawl. Good rewards, so its very popular. Bowman Skills! Arrow Blow vs Double Shot! As a bowman, you need to choose one attack skill, and max it out, and ignore the other. People argue which of the two is better, but really they are nearly identical. Rather than explain, I will just say that I would go with Arrow Blow. If you want to know why, I will explain later. Amazon's Blessing is not that useful. Put at least 3 into it, anymore is optional. Amazon's Eye is just required. Put the max 8 points into it. Critical Shot. Obviously, max this out. Focus. Eh. Optional. With maxed Arrow Blow, Critical Shot, and Amazon's Eye, you will have very long range, and extreme damage crits. Choosing Double Shot over Arrow Blow will give you more critical hits, but they will be weaker. I'm tired now.
