Tim's Israel Tour

This is me standing at an overlook of the city of Joppa (more or less a suburb or Tel Aviv).

In this picture is the remains of about 20 cities built one on top of another as they were conquered (otherwise know as a "Tel). This is the Tel of Beit Shean (pronounced Beth She' an). This is the only place in the world where the newer city is built below the older ones. The newer city being the roman ruins visible in the picture. This was a large city, one of the Roman Decapolis (big ten). Buildings in this city included and ampitheater, bath house, garrison, and whore house. In the background you see a big hill. That is the ancient Phillistine part of the tel. It is here where King Saul of the Israelites and his son's bodies were hung on display from the walls after they were killed in battle. Also on top of the hill is where I hid from the tour group and dug up a few artifacts to snatch. I found pieces of pottery, jars, bones, and tools.

This is me standing on the banks of the Jordan River. This is the approximate site of where Jesus was baptized.

I want to see more!
