Having successfully completed more Business Administration
Management courses and applications, and having acquired extensive knowledge/experience in the field of magazine publication and related photography methods, I wish establish a magazine publication of my own, be it a fotonovel . I will introduce to the semi-erotic arts magazine market a new format, consisting of a pictorial story text, referred to as a fotonovel which will reach the outer limits of romance, adventure, action and lifestyles as the average reader can only dream of .
The Fanzine , for all intents and purposes, will not require a restricted label or have any editorial restrictions . A comparison to the alt.comics reference would be; not as culty as Faust , and more than Sin City . The Fotonovel , comprising of a picture to picture sequential pattern with edited inserts somewhat simulating the comic book structure we have been accustomed to. I can easily surmise, that it will be a success if not for it's contents, but for it's unusual format and presentation.
Most of the project will be Photographed , Edited, Published, and Distributed by my/our Company. The assignment requires an expertise in linguistics, desktop publishing, artwork, structuralization, marketing, and a fanatical level of special-effects location photography . The magazine cover and two of the sixty or so pages will be proofread and pmt'd by my favorite Desktop Publisher at a reasonable fee due to recurring number of different episodes, which will net a quantity related account.
Desktop publishing and processing , 'for some strange reason' is not all done personally, will require 50% up front, and printers, require total payment in advance with respect to laws and indemnifications. No doubt my bargaining skills will be in depeche mode for this maneuver.
I am aiming for a black and white fotonovella edition that will require the services of an experienced printer such as Barbara at College printers, and Michael Scott at Aritistat to guide me through the first 7,000 editions . Costs will be reduced through the use of a conventional 'comic-book ' printing format known as 'web paper ' printing and a Corel picture page layout/editor minimizing paper and offset printing costs. After the fourth edition has expired the segmented magazine will predominate my BBS for further down loading to the international world of E-Mail in whatever languages available. My negotiating capacities are in 'Top-Gear' to override the intended printer, desktop publisher, whom 'from my previous experiences' can usually beguile a car/computer salesman.
Most of the production time will be spent on the usual task of organizing the photo-sessions with as much as six actor/models during the estimated two hundred and seventy-six hour shoot. Nonprofessional models will be employed to minimize the costs by 75%, though the choreography is somewhat more tentative when this method is utilized. Another aspect of the project is the awesome amount of time and patience that it takes to Cut and Paste the layout, as well as the dedication it takes to apply the TTFonts inserts to each and every photograph using the ever so popular RAM eating but sufficiently stable Corel 3, in a choreographic capacity.
Even though this is a photographic layout , a surprising amount of artistic talent will be required to collate the pictures, accurately edit the background overlays and balance the Publications outlay.
The initial start-up fee for location shoots, Modeling fees, Publishing, Printing, Consultations, and Marketing will run to about $10,000 for the first 7,000 Canadian publications, of which the subsidy of negotiated loans, from banks and various creditors, will be subject to a loss carry forward for the initial year.
According to my lotus calculations at $20.00 per edition, the project will net at least $100,000 during the first run of the production on the 'Canadian sales' year.
I am orchestrating my communications software to their fullest capacities for the intended project. My mindlink telenetwork system can open all of the INet- Gateways for correspondences, even ' the dinosaur ' faxing capacities and so will my own photography related bulletin board service . By operating my own photography/publishing Web Page , and real time BBS , I can optimize my marketing endeavors, and facilitate contact with all my prospective clients, and therefore provide a vigilant service. My expertise in a multitude of computer applications will be required for the magazine project entreprenage, as well as keeping up my twelve business programs that require constant updating and balancing.
The Fotonovel publication will appeal psychographically and demographically to multi-cultural groups of any gender as well as the so inclined artist. I will translate it to a French version as well as other languages for the intended export, if time and patience permit. The indiscriminate, and ruthless usage of in-camera special effects technicalities such as mirrors, prisms, vignettes, and other impressionistic influences, will encompass up more photo-sessions time and instill a slight communicative problem when conveying the application message to the actors/models, but I have learned to circumvent this intricacy , in my past experiences .

This will allow me more time to attend to the more prevalent communicative aspects of the publication and attend to the administrative capacities with a more expedient perspective .
The latter prospect of opening a special-effects boudoir studio in a semi storefront environment, a relatively new concept especially for this area, would not be out of the projected marketing endeavor ; whereas, my proficiency in sales and marketing strategy, can be exercised to the fullest potential on a direct consumer/retailer level. I hope to net at least $80,000 annually by 1997 and with my skills in Marketing, Telecommunications and Photographic talents/tricks permit, to double that amount by the year 2000.
Most of the marketing perspective will center upon my learned skills relating to Applied Telecommunications ; whereas, my proficiency in this discipline will evaluate my pending success concerning the intended fotonovel publication.
As a comparison in simplified
marketing, the only known competition to the
Fantalla FotoNovel Concept is one called
'Tres Mas' which is hard copied in Hispanic only , photographed in 'Mexico' DTP'd in Texas, distributed in a South
American environment, and sold at 15pesos. They, 'Tres Mas' are in their 200th edition and must be making some profit to continue production, What I can't quite figure
out is where does a South American get $15 'two weeks pay' to spend on a zine ...maybe they're all drug-lords
or something , since that is the magazines' general dominating theme!
