In the year of 1481 she was freed by a strange appearing man by the name of Yamato Nagi who was to be revealed the Firehawk of the element of fire. He told her of her true nature and her need to replace the fallen phoenix of the element of air Alisha McDouglas. Yearning for a life full of excitement she accepted without hesitation. Nagi took Samantha under his tutelage and trained her in the art of combat. During this hard training a father-daughter relationship developed between them. Her skill over time excelled to the point that Nagi could tech her no more. Samantha was endowed with the power of air and she had served her post honorably. However she became weary of the almost tyrannical leadership of the Guardians by the Phoenix of Water, Arlene Winters. Under the guidance of Nagi, she fought Arlee for the mantle of leadership and She defeated Arlee after a long and tiring battle. After she had taken the leadership from Arlee she lead the Guardians more effectively than Arlee. she led without the egotistical attitude that permeated all of Arlees' plans. Although things did not go as smoothly as Samantha had planned, she had underestimated the size of a nest of Demons and Nagi was killed in the ensuing battle. She took his death very hard and second guessed every battle after that, the guilt of his death was bearing down on her soul. Knowing she was ineffective as a leader this way she took off to clear her head and find the chosen one, the one that would replace the fallen Nagi. She found him in Spain, a curious man with dark green eyes, a man named Nathan Gilheed. From the moment their eyes locked Samantha fell in love. With Nathan in her life Samantha felt renewed, she taught him everything she knew. They traveled the world together finding every master swordsman the can to teach Nathan. Soon Nathan was beyond all teaching. They were inseparable, and their love for each other drove Arlee mad, because they were hardly ever apart. They soon wed. She lived a happy life with Nathan, although they fought at times they were never mad at each for long. The lived and fought alongside each other until the winter of 1909.
