Nathan is the guardian of the southern quarter of the
circle. He is infused with the element of fire via a small
gemstone that lies within his beating heart. His power
allows him to generate and control all forms of fire,
including electricity. He can create objects of fire or
bolts of lighting to use in attacks, for example;
fireballs, pillars of flame, circles of flame, and so on. He carries two .45 Smith and Wesson pistols load with silver rounds. He channels his energy into these guns superheating the rounds as they leave the chamber, creating a silver plasma that is extremely effective against most demons.
He also has the ability to control the temperature of both
the
flames he creates and of flames in general, raising or
lowering them for the desired effect. This ability makes
him immune to any and all fire-based and electricity-based
attacks, instead taking that energy into him, thereby
making him stronger. Though the sword is Nathan's primary
weapon in battle, he will use his power when the situation
seems bleak. The sword he carries is the mystical sword of
fire, it was forged in the heart of the sun by Fafnir himself.
And through his
magicks, the blade is both blessed with a myriad of
enchantments and is utterly indestructible, able to cleave
through almost anything.
His swordsmanship is unmatched due to his having spent many
centuries constantly training and honing his art with the
great masters of all forms and teachings. Though his
hand-to-hand combat abilities leave something to be
desired, his augmented strength and speed more than make up
for any such shortcomings. He can lift up to a half ton
without any ill effects, and can run a mile in a mere
two-and-a-half minutes. Like the others, he can morph into
his hawk form, which, except for its vibrant red and orange
plumage, resembles a normal hawk. His flame form
looks
essentially like an immense hawk made up completely of
reddish, fiery energy. In this form, he is immune to all
physical attacks and his power is elevated to near god-like
levels. This form has its own set of limitations due to
the enormous mental toll on Nathan to maintain it. He can
exist in this form for about an hour at most.
Nathan, in life, was both a great warrior and a dreamer.
His was an inquisitive mind, and during his mortal life, he
sought the tutelage of all the great teachers of his time.
He was born in May of 1648 in a small village in Italy
where he spent his childhood, and most of adult life. At
the age of 25, he was dubbed a royal Knight of the Court of
the King and Queen of Spain. Soon after, he first
encountered Samantha Mankato
, a beautiful woman, with whom he instantly fell in love.
She told him of his true calling, and he accepted the
mantle of the Guardians. He was alternately a kind,
generous soul in his private life and a force to be
reckoned with on the battlefield. How odd it was that one
who was a terror to even the unholiest of demons was also
so gentle to all other living creatures. He tended to be
absent minded through the centuries, but Samantha was
always there to keep him on course.
Samantha had become Nathan's guiding light. Like a beacon
from a lighthouse, she steered him from confusion and
torment. He asked for her hand in matrimony and she
whole-heartedly accepted. Always a somewhat sad soul,
Nathan changed instantly that day and, and lived life with
a renewed sense of happiness. Tragically, his world was
shattered in the year 1909, when Samantha left their home
one night, and never returned. He searched for days,
finally coming across her lifeless body in cold harsh secluded area of Tunguska
, her heart torn from her chest and the gemstone of
the Air missing. Something within him died that night.
For the next few decades, he became withdrawn and hardly ever spoke. Howeve things for him changed when he came across the vampire Bethany who was seeking the demon that was causing a string of grizzly murders in the midwest. Nathan is becoming more and more darker and relishing the kill since she stepped into his life.
