Fast, maneuverable, lean on power usage, and heavily armed, Romulan Destroyers and Frigates are the pride of the Empire's fleet. When you throw in the Cloaking Device and the Nuclear Space Mine, however, they become some of the best in the game.

Although not well shielded and fragile, in squadrons of two or more they can be very devastating if used properly. Alone or travelling with a fleet, Destroyers and Frigates should be the backbone of any Romulan Fleet.

One of the things that makes Destroyers and Frigates so attractive, is their extremely low cloak cost. Many Romulan Destroyers can easily cruise at speeds of 17, or sometimes greater, with all of their weapons charged, and power allocated to the Cloaking Device. While they may be slightly outgunned by the destroyers and frigates of other races, the cloaking device more than makes up for the fact by bringing the ultimate electronic warfare defense to the table. It is this combination of heavy armament, stealth, maneuverability, and speed, which make these units so deadly. Not to mention the fact that nearly every one of them carries a Nuclear Space Mine.
