HSC Exams!!!! For almost all Junior College students of Maharashtra State, and especially those of the Science Faculty, the HSC exams are the most important exams of their lives. These exams decide the careers of most of the students in the state. Since I will be giving these exams too, naturally they are very important for me (in other words, I should not be spending so much time at the computer).

The Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) exams are held twice every year, in March and in October. Held at the 10 + 2 level, they are generally the last exams before a student can pursue undergraduate studies. From three main faculties, Arts, Science and Commerce, students can branch out into specialised areas such as Engineering, Medical Science, Psychology, Sociology, Accounting and more.

For Science students, there are six subjects to give, three of them being all-important.

My Subjects are:

  1. English (1st Language) - compulsory

  2. Mathematics (I and II) - compulsory

  3. Physics (I and II) - compulsory

  4. Chemistry (I and II) - compulsory

  5. Hindi (2nd Language) - optional along with Marathi, Gujrati, French, Electronics-I, Computers-I and Electrical Maintenance-I.

  6. Biology (I and II) - optional along with Economics, Electronics-II, Computers-II and Electrical maintenance-II

For a student wanting to go into Engineering (like me) and Architecture, Physics, Chemistry and Maths marks (called PCM) carry the most imprtance as these marks are checked first for admission into Graduate Colleges. For students planning a career in medicine, Maths is replaced by Biology (hence PCB). The marks of the other three subjects are relevant only in the case of a tie in scores. Unfortunately, that happens quite often, and hence these subject cannot be neglected.

I have around 90 days left for my exams to begin. In Bombay, the competition is so intense, that you have to start studying well in advance. So please wish me the best of luck.
