Drown My Addiction

by Jon McFarland

I don't know why you stick around,
or why you try to be a part of me.
One way or another we're always bound,
caged as one but together we're free.
You seem to be my leaning shoulder,
always seem to care about my troubles.
You keep me from falling under,
feed me affection in little air bubbles.
I won't sink to the bottom now,
you hold me above the tide.
When I'm floating on death's brow,
you won't let me run and hide.
Now once the damage is done,
and my soul's left bleeding.
Your love is comparable to none,
and light in my soul is seeding.
As long as you stick by me,
I mustn't fall back on my addiction.
All I want is for you to see,
your love has gotten my attention.
