Loneliness

by Jon McFarland

Loneliness is not a phase
I stare with an empty gaze
Sense of belonging buried
resenting this social need
I burn to be of you
but bleed to remain true
Loneliness is not a phase
forgotten parts you raise
My content is orchestrated
that confidence has faded
Speak with false pretenses
I forget lost romances
Loneliness is not a phase
continues into brighter days
I confide in solitude
accept this nothing mood
You leave me so lonely
and now I hold empty
