Some Words for the things He'll Never Have
by Jon McFarland
it came along to soon,
something so great,
but now it's out of reach,
because he has no patience
patience is a treat,
not everyone has it,
he wishes he did,
but it's already to late
he doesn't ask for much,
just one thing,
the love of another,
now gone rotten
it was once so pure,
now it's dead,
he ripped it out,
before it was alive
he keeps it beside him,
with little hope,
of getting it back,
so he can feel again
now he's tired,
strung out from riddles,
he's ready to give up,
but then it blooms
a small piece,
so strong and pretty,
soon to be smothered,
by more impatience
this cycle continues,
to him,
nothing is real,
it all is a lie that comes back again
maybe someday,
he'll leave it alone,
and it will grow,
so he can kill it again
