Campaign Adventures

ASTERnauts is a campaign that begins in the late 1940s with a group of scientists who are recruited to build a rocket ship to explore the solar system.

As of this date, our group, which meets once a month, has met about half a dozen time. The summaries of those adventures are available. Be warned: this campaign uses much of the material included in GURPS Atomic Horror. Many of the characters, settings, and institutions are modeled on or ripped off from items in that book. If you're a player in an Atomic Horror game, some of this stuff just might be a spoiler for you. Where possible, this material has been marked.

GURPS, for those who don't know is the Generic Universal Role-Playing System published by Steve Jackson Games. The folks here at Born for Adventure think that Steve Jackson Games is one of the best game publisher out there, and that GURPS is simply the best role-playing game on the market. We strongly suggest that you check out their website and certainly buy their products.

GURPS Atomic Horror is the supplement published by Steve Jackson Games that allows players to adventure in the world of the science-horror B-movies of the 1950s. Like most other GURPS supplements published by Steve Jackson Games, this one is well written, informative, and an entertaining book to read; then you still get to role-play using it. It has a great many resources for the GM designing the game world and adventures. There are mysterious places, people, and events that are included. There can be used as settings, background, or even adventure seeds. There are two completely fleshed out adventures that are included that just need a GM to add a little window dressing and they play great. The traditional bestiary is included with a myriad of atomic mutants and other freaks of science.

Currently, GURPS Atomic Horror is out of print, but if you can find some one who actually wants to part with their copy, get it. It's well worth it. Alternately, you can raise a stink with Steve Jackson Games and try to get them to print the book again.
