My friend Ian drove us Then we drove into St. Louis, Missouri, where there is a huge metal thing
called The Arch. I looked everywhere for a spider just like me. But I didn't see one in St.
Louis!
along Interstate 44 into
Missouri. From my spot in the back window, I watched as we crossed the Mississippi
River. The Mississippi forms the border between Illinois and Missouri. Ian says
that the bridge that crosses it, the Poplar Street Bridge, is about a mile across!
People wait for rides all the way to the top, and Carrie says that when it's
windy the top sways back and forth! No, thanks, I thought. I'll keep my eight
legs on the ground.
That St. Louis has the nickname "The Gateway to the West"?

It didn't take very long to get all the way through Missouri - it was only about
four hours or so. We stopped at rest areas and gas stations along the way to
stretch our legs - all of our legs! My friends took turns driving
and soon we were close to a new state, Oklahoma.
