You Are My Sunshine

None of the other DX members seemed to care about Hunter's title woes, because a celebration was talking place backstage. Billy, Jesse, and Sean were all back together and loving it. Shane just stood in the background smiling until Sean came over to ask him what was wrong. "Nothing, just watching you guys." he answered.

A slightly drunk and very loopy Road Dogg spoke up from his position entwined in Billy's lap. "Aww...lookit Billy, Sean and Shane are making friends."

Gunn pulled the younger man closer to him. "Yeah, well their friendliness is getting me all hot and bothered. What do ya say we go back to the hotel?"

With the Outlaws gone, Sean and Shane were left alone. Shane walked over to the couch the two men had left. "Have you ever noticed the couches in every arena across the country look exactly the same?"

"Bad memories attached to furniture like this?" Shane nodded. "Me too." Sean sat down and gestured for Shane to sit next to him. "We shouldn't get freaked anymore. I think we've pretty much taken Hunter out."

There was silence for awhile then Shane said quietly "It's my fault you know."

Sean looked over. "What is?"

"What Hunter and Andrew did. It's my fault."

"I don't know who you've been talking to, but..."

"I haven't been talking to anyone. I just know this."

Sean turned around to face Shane. "It is not your fault. They violated you Shane. Nothing you ever could have done could have made you deserve this."

Shane looked away tearfully. "You don't understand! I WANTED Hunter to screw me, wanted to feel him inside of me. That night, he was giving me what I asked for, just a bit rough. And...and...God, I KNEW Andrew was my dad's little lapdog, but I trusted him anyways...I'm stupid, I'm a traitor to my family, I deserve it, I deserve everything....."

Sean pulled Shane against him tightly. "No, no, you do not deserve this. They hurt you, you are not the person to be blamed......"

Sobbing, Shane held on to Sean like he were drowning. "I'm sorry...don't mean to freak out..."

"Don't be sorry, that's what I'm here for. Just cry it out, I'm here...." His voice was soothing as he rubbed Shane's shaking back rhythmically. As Shane's sobs reduced to sniffles, then to near-sleep, Sean started whispering lullabies, the ones he remembered his mom singing. As Shane slowly drifted off, Sean got to what had always been his favorite song:

You are my sunshine
My only sunshine
When you're not happy
My skies are gray
You'll never know dear
How much I love you
I'll always wash your gray skies away

Shane stirred from his position against Sean's chest. "You mean it?"

"Mean what?"

"That you love me?"

Sean realized Shane was probably still half-asleep and probably wouldn't remember the conversation in the morning, but a tiny part of him hoped he did. "Mm-hmm. Every word." As Shane slept against him, Sean let silent tears fall for the man he loved so much but who was still tortured by so many demons.
