Title: Unspoken Love (1/1)

Author: TeddiBear (mail all coments to: dlphnfan@hotmail.com)

Disclaimer: Oh boy I hate these (just added them to my site). Ok, well as we all know Mulder and Scully don’t belong to me, (though I wish they did), rather they belong to the fabulous folks at FOX and 10-13 productions and Chris Carter (who frustrates me to no end) created them. Ok, now that that’s done, on with the story and I promise I’ll return them when I’m through. (Well, maybe not Mulder) J/K. So don’t sue, cuz I have nothing to give. I’m penniless and must pay my way through college. Hehe.

Rating: G (the worst word I use is hell)

Classification: Story/Humor/Angst/Romance and a little MSR thrown in (ok, maybe a lot!)

Spoilers: I think Memento Mori and maybe Elegy. This takes place before Gethesemane or better yet in my world there is no Gethesemane, making all us Shippers happy.

Keywords: MSR and UST, Mulder/Scully romance

Summary: An unexpected scream causes fits of laughter and endless crying, yet provides for a lot of romance and a little humor all rolled into a very happy story with a special ending.

Comments (I warn you, this is a long intro.): Well, ok, since this is my first shot at fanfic, I’ll explain how it came about. Let’ s just say that late one night after three or four nights of endless reading, I got inspired. I love the fan fic here on Gossamer so much that I figured it was about time I wrote one. Also, after listening to Celine Dion’s Falling Into You and Jewel’s Pieces of You, I just couldn’t take it anymore and had to write something. Actually the main inspiration for this piece involved an incident in seventh or eighth grade (I forget which), where my desk and books all toppled over and caused my history class to erupt into a fit of giggles and me to turn a nice shade of red. And the worst part was, it all happened in slow motion. I’ve been reminded of it enough by my good friend Danny, who after 4 years, still remembers it, so I figured I’d use it as a starting point. Anyways, I’m digressing. I just hope you all enjoy my first fan fic and feel free to send me any comments or criticisms, but I must warn you, I don’t take to kindly to flames. So be gentle. Ok, now for some dedications and I’ll let you get on with the story.

Dedications: I’m dedicating this to first and foremost, my mom, Diamond Fan, who has always supported me in whatever I do and who also coereced me into writing this. I love you Mommy! Next, Danny, because of his constant reminders about my “desk incident” or as he likes to call it, “The Great Fall” (really you had to be there). Next to Becky (danafox) and Gertiebeth for supporting me in my quest to finally write fan fic. Then, to all those at the Fat Cat Cafe (Evol, Corzy, CH, LC, and all the rest) who read my story and who are always putting up with my constant crazy posts (really I love you guys!). Then, to my ICQ buds, (you know who you are), who I messaged at god knows what hour and begged them to read the story and comment. Lastly, to anyone who writes fanfic (especially shippy stuff). After reading what you talented people wrote, I just knew that I’d be able to get through the summer. You guys are wonderful and I love reading all your stuff, especially shippy stuff. Keep it up! Oh and feel free to archive, just keep all the info the same! Thanks.

Thanks everyone and now without further ado, on with the show... err, story...

Unspoken Love by TeddiBear (dlphnfan@hotmail.com)

She looked around the small basement office and sighed. Her partner sat in his usual position: feet propped up on the desk and munching sunflower seeds. Without warning, she let out a loud scream in frustration, causing her extremely startled partner to topple out of his chair and fall to the floor. At the sight of his position, Dana Katherine Scully, began laughing hysterically.

“Oh, you think this is funny,” her partner Fox Mulder said as he gestured to his position and her looking down on him ready to explode into another fit of hysterical laughter. “Might I remind you, that you caused this,” he cried, as he pulled her down next to him on the floor. “Now wanna tell me what that scream, was all about, Scully?”

Still laughing hysterically, she tried to choke out something, but couldn’t, which caused her to laugh even more. When she finally began to regain her composure, she explained, “Mulder, I just needed to let out a little tension, and I was reading the other day, that screaming is the best way to do it. Sorry about making you fall,” she added, as she started laughing again, picturing her partner toppling over, the chair slipping out from under him, and sunflower seeds flying everywhere.

“Well, glad I could amuse you, Scully, but next time you wanna scream in frustration, let me know first. Then I’ll be able to prepare for what is about to come next,” he said, giving her his all too famous puppy-dog look as he suddenly started to erupt in a fit of his own laughter.

“Well, Mulder, you can’t always be prepared,” she responded playfully, not realizing the affect she had on him.

As they lay in hysterics, he couldn’t help but look over at her, imagining what would happen, if he were to suddenly lean over and kiss her. ‘Now she would definitely not be prepared for that,’ he thought to himself, suddenly ashamed at the idea. But, yet he couldn’t deny the fact that he was head over heels, hopelessly in love with her. Her. The most beautiful woman in the world. The only one he trusted and would ever let get close to him. He had wanted to be with her from the first moment they met. That day when she walked down to his office and they shook hands for the first time. At first he had suspected her, but after working so closely together, he began to trust her and she, him. Now, there was no denying it anymore. He wanted to be one with her. To have her all to himself and to wake up every morning with her in his arms, feeling safe, warm, and protected. But, he couldn’t have that and he knew it. Hell, he didn’t even know if she felt the same way. He also didn’t know why she stayed with him for 5 years, considering that he had caused her so much more pain than one human being could bear. He had been the reason Melissa had died. He had been the sole reason Scully had cancer and was now dying, And he had been the reason that she was forced to endure endless pain and suffering. Even now as he thought about it, his laughter suddenly turned into tears, and before he knew it he was crying uncontrollably.

Scully stopped laughing when she heard the tears escape from her partner. At first she thought that he had laughed himself to tears, but from the way he looked, she knew that wasn’t the case. She looked over at him, pained as he was and longed to be able to ease the pain away, by telling him three simple words, ‘I love you.’ But her stubborn and strong-willed mind would never let him know how much he meant to her. How much she loved him and longed to be with him from the moment she first met him. To her, he was the most gorgeous man alive. She realized then, that their 5 year partnership, friendship, companionship, ah hell, call it what you want, was the longest relationship she had ever had with anyone, let alone a man. Relationship. Those words suddenly had a new meaning. She wished that she could actually have a “relationship” with Mulder, but she knew she never could. Hell, she didn’t even know if he felt the same way as her. Longed for her as much as she did for him. Suddenly she began to cry too, and it wasn’t from the laughing. It was from realizing that she was dying and that she would never be able to have Fox Mulder. She had already went through too much pain in her life, but this was more than even she could bear. She could feel her resolve that she had worked so hard to build, crumble as she broke down and the sobs escaped from her throat before she could stop them.

Mulder stopped crying at the sound of his partner’s sobbing. He looked over at her again and wondered what was wrong. Then, he said it aloud, “Scully, what’s wrong?”

“Nothing, Mulder, I’m fine, really I am,” she said, those words all too familiar to him.

But he knew that something was terribly wrong. She wasn’t fine, she was dying of cancer, for god’s sake. The cancer that I gave her. Oh how he longed to take her in his arms and hold her and kiss the tears away. Let her know, that she was safe and that everything would be all right. He decided, hell if she doesn’t return it, I’m gonna do it.

He sat up and moved over to her. Gently he took her in his arms and let her cry into his chest, all the while stroking her beautiful, silky red hair. “It’s ok Dana,” he murmured, “ everything’s going to be all right, I’m here. I’m here.”

She sat up abruptly at the sound of her first name. It took her a second to realize what had happened. He had called her by her first name, something he never did. She was puzzled at this and even more puzzled when she saw his arms around her comforting her. Through tear-stained blue eyes, she looked up at him. “You called me Dana,” she said softly.

“Yes, I did. It... it just seemed appropriate,” he faltered, not being able to express what he truly wanted to say.

She nodded even though she was perplexed, but one look into his gorgeous hazel eyes and she understood. He had used her first name as a sign of affection, the only true way he could tell her what she had longed to hear. She finally decided, that strong and stubborn will or not, she was gonna tell him. But she was gonna do it her way, because only he’d let her.

“Well, Fox,” she started, noticing how he grimaced at the sound of his first name. But then the grimace slid away and she was able to continue. “I’m here too,” she finished, looking up at him to see if what she had said registered. She even went on to say, “I’m here, and I’m never ever going to leave you Fox, ever.”

That registered. His hazel eyes stared deep into her blue ones as they explored each other souls, each knowing how the other felt. Only they could convey those thoughts with just looks, wordlessly, each thinking the same three little words and reading each other’s minds at the same time. But yet, it didn’t feel complete, unless they said it aloud, so he decided to break the silence.

“Dana,” he started, staring deep into her crystal blue eyes, “I love you. I’ve loved you from the moment I first saw you. When you stepped into my life, it was as if God has sent down a beautiful delicate angel to help me in my quest for the truth. Not only that, but to protect me and give me someone who I could share anything and everything with. Someone I could actually get close to. Someone I could trust. And you know,” he said as he cupped her face in his hands, “you are the only one I trust and the only one I ever will.” He was still holding her face when she began to speak.

“Fox, I feel the exact same. I’ve loved you since the moment I saw you. I knew that you were the only one I could ever let get close to me, ever trust. Cause you know,” she said as she repeated the same gesture he had, this time cupping his face with her hands, “you are the only one I trust and the only one I ever will.”

They sat like that for a few moments just staring into each other’s eyes, still holding each other, allowing themselves to explore the other’s soul, when suddenly their lips met in a gentle yet long awaited kiss. Both could feel the love and the passion explode as their lips touched and the kiss deepened. When they finally had to come up for air, both were breathless, but content. They now knew that they shared the same passion, same truth, same quest, same soul. They were destined to be together and no one, not even the Consortium could ever break them up. When they finally spoke, Mulder was the one to again break the silence.

“Now, that we know, what do we do?” he asked seriously and playfully at the same time, his eyes dancing with a fire that only she could bring out in him.

“Well, you could always marry me,” she said, half joking, half serious, her eyes also dancing with that same fire that only he could bring out in her.

“Well,” he said, “I might just do that.”

And do that he did. They were married and Scully proved the doctors wrong. She lived a long time, not letting the cancer stop her, and her and Mulder shared many wonderful years together and many more not so wonderful X-files. They were finally together after all their years of unspoken love. He, her Fox, and she, his Dana, united, one soul forever and eternity.

Well, did ya like it? (but of course you did, hehe.) Well let me know. Send all comments to dlphnfan@hotmail.com, but I warn you flames are not my thing. And believe me my bark (or growl, I mean I am a bear) is worse than my bite!!! TB
