My family and I currently have four birds, 2 parakeets and 2 parrots.

Budgie & Keets

Our two budgies are named Budgie (pronounced boo-gie) and Keets. When we got these two in May of 2001, my wife and I wanted pets but wasn't sure if we can raise birds. In my opinion, the budgies are the best birds to get if you are inexperienced with birds. They are small and don't eat much with the exception of pellets and fruits and veggies.
Our budgies (like all our birds) are spoiled. First they have free flight, which is something I recommend for excersize, and we have them out of their cage when we get home from work until we go to bed. On the weekends, they spend most of the times out of their cage.

Yoda

Our eclectus, Yoda, is "my" bird. He was born in May of 2002 and we brought him home in August. He has a very distinct personallity and at times, he lets you know when he's not happy. When we got him, he was getting over being sick so we helped nurse him back to health by giving him Oatmeal to eat to help him gain weight. Since then, he gets oatmeal (along with all the other birds) twice a day (morning and afternoon) and if we forget, he will walk into the kitchen, wait there, then walk into the family room where we are sitting, get our attention then head to the kichen and repeat this until we get his oatmeal. Hmmmm, I wonder, who own's whom?

Amity

Our Orange Winged Amazon, Amity, was born in April 2002. We brought her home with Yoda and the two have been best friends from day one. This unusual friendship (because the two are different species of birds) has brought on some rather interesting outcomes. Both Yoda and Amity share traints that are unlike their own species. For example, Eclectus are not known for using the talons as much to manipulate objects and food but Yoda tries, tho, not always succeeding while amazons don't usual "hop" from place to place but Amity hops from the table to the couch when she sees its pointless to fly.
