Harry Potter and the Half Blood Pope
Well, Midnight tonight the new book comes out and with it comes a whole new contraversy with the book and the Church

Now, I'm not Catholic, but my wife is and we are raising our kids as catholics. I've read all the books, seen all the movies, listen to he books on tape and I've come to this conclusion.

ITS JUST A KIDS BOOK!!!

Your Holiness, just because you don't like Harry, that shouldn't give your the authority to say Harry is EVIL and reading about the poor young lad is devil worshipping. Come on, your Holiness, you have got to have better things to do with your time.

I mean really.....its not like its "Helter Skelter" by Charles Manson or the Necronomicon. Its a kids book, plain and simple. It gets kids away from the TV and vidio games and gets them to READ.

I'm about to take a pot shot here so I expect some negitive email on this so if you get easily offended, you might as well get the hell off my page....

Enough warning space

I really hope his Holiness doesn't follow the actions of a countryman of his about seventy years ago (give or take 10 years) because books should be read, not burned!

Criminals and Police Chases
I was watching the news this week and saw a terrible accident happened when a teenager stole a minivan, drove on the curb barely missing children on the sidewalk, leaving the police to try and chase him to stop him from hurting someone. He ended up smashing the van into a car, killing both driver and young girl who was riding in the car.

What surprised me is the family of the victom blamed the Police for chasing the guy.

What???

Ok, so you are telling me you would much rather have the police not chase criminals? What a freakin moron you are. Don't get me wrong, I feel bad for your family but you come on TV, talking down to the police, stating you will get justice (against the police) and you will probably sue the city.

I hate to say this, but....it's times like this that makes me wish I was anything but human. Some people are just so selfish and so idiotic, they just don't think before they shoot off their mouth.

So, this woman is probably going to sue the City of Cleveland, which is taking tax payers money away from the civil service and schools (which both desparately need the money) leaving more kids to think they can only get buy heisting more cars and not enough police to enforce the law.

Ma'am, when your house gets broken into, when you get assaulted, or something happens that you need the police, I just want you to remember your words. Dispite what you and other people may believe, the Police are NOT the bad guys, it's the parents who refuse to raise their children properly.

Tom Cruise
Oh....how do I begin....Tom you are a Nutcase!

I liked you in some movies but you seemed so arrogant, like you had to portray the best and only the best.

You also started preaching the Scientology like it is the best thing since sliced bread. Well, I'm not slamming Scientology, but I don't go preachin my religion to anyone who says hi to me.

Next, you were married twice and divoraced twice. You are now currently engaged and I find it interesting that Nicole was 11 younger than Mimi and now Katie is 11 younger than Nicole. Not that I'm jealous (I'm perfectly happy with my wife who is three years younger than me) but can't find someone your age? Perhap everyone your age sees through your bullcrap and antics. It will be a matter of time before you brainwash Katie or before Katie realizes what a idiot you really are.

Now, I must say, in your defense. You handled the squirting microphone pretty well. You didn't go ballistic and you showed some class. Let me ask you this tho, was this a Promo prank by your camp? I mean, what way to get good press. And, how quick your assistant got you a towel. Hmmmm

Finally...let's talk about Psychiatry. Where is your degree? Wait, according what What I dug up, you entered a semenary but dropped out. hmmmm
Whoa.....Scientology cured your Dyslexia as well.....cool...Dyslexic Scientologist of the World, UNTIE
Now lets talk about how you know psychiatry. You don't believe in chemical imbalances, well let me tell you this. I am currently on meds because I wanted to eat a bullet because I couldn't handle the true reality of my life and what happened in my life. My wife and I almost got divoraced and everything was going to hell. I finally spoke to my DR. who suggested to me it's not a shame to be on anti-depressants because what I suffer, I'm not alone. Now you come along and shoot off your big mouth claiming what I suffer is crap.
Go to Hell!!!
You don't know me, you don't know what I had to live with. You don't know my history.
F@@K YOU TOM! F@@K YOU TO HELL, YOU PRICK!!!!

Star Wars
I was seven years old when the first movie came out. Back then, it was just called Star Wars, there was not A New hope, no Empire strkes back, just the dream of following the adventures of Luke and Han save the Princess. It was Science Fiction and what perhaps opened my eyes to Science Fiction.

The Empire Strkes back and Return of the Jedi came out. I was hooked. I saw everything, read everything, breathed everything, lived everything science fiction. I also got into fantasy but the idea of Sci-fi was great to me.

Then in the 90's George Lucus announced he was releasing the Prequel. I thought GREAT!!!!! I couldn't wait until 1999. I discovered the week The Phantom Menace came out, I would be on my Honeymoon. So I bought the book to read. The book was great, but I knew that this movie would be so-so. It was a movie to set up all the other movies. I liked the idea of the Jedi, I liked Qui-Gon-Jin and Obi-Wan. I didn't care much for Jar Jar, who I determined was comic relief and something the children would like. I also didn't like Jake Loyd as Anakin. To me, it appeared the boy got his lines a minute before filming and it was like pulling teeth to get the lines out. But all in all it was ok.

Attack of the Clones came next. A sleeper most of the way until the end. The arena scene was awesome but you can't say a movie is good based on one scene. So all, in all, I was becoming disappointed with George.

Finally, Revenge of the Sith. I was hesitant so I read the book first. Like always, the book has a lot more than the movie, but from what I read, it was going to be a great movie. So when I went and saw the movie, It was GREAT! A friend of mine said it best that George redeemed himself in this movie. It was dark and entertaining. But sad in the same, knowing this may be the last Star Wars movie.......but then again...it may not. May the Force Be with You

Child-Media Abuse
Ah spring and sprung, the grass is green and the snow has melted. I check the news online to check the weather and go to CNN.com and see that Schiavo's parents are taking the case to the next level of our courts. Big deal I tell myself. I understand the case that their daughter Terri, who may be in a vegitative state for many many years, is getting her feeding tube removed, thus forcing her to starve to death.

Not a very pleasent way to go but if I were Terri, I wouldn't want to live in this state. Allowing Terri to die seems very humane to me but there are some people who don't look at it that way.

So, I look at the picture that accompies the article and couldn't help but notice a little girl is holding a sign "What if you were Terri". Whoa I thought to myself. I'm in my thirties and I understand the case but this girl appears to be eight. When I was eight, the things I thought about was Star Wars (it had just come out in the theatre) and playing football with my friends. To me, either this young girl is either very very very mature or her parents are pushing their beliefs onto her.

Grrrr....that just burns me up. I understand kids want to be like their parents but this is no different when I was driving by an abortion clinic and saw the same old people picketing but someone brought their 5 and 6 year old kids and handed them signs saying "Abortions Kills Babies". What does a 5 and 6 year old know about Life and Death????

I personally feel this is a form of child abuse because parents are "brain washing" their kids. When I grew up, my parents would tell me what's right and wrong and they would explain things to me but they always tried to have me think for myself and to ask questions of why. But what's unfortunate is there are A LOT of parents out there who don't know how to be parents or just don't want the responsiblity.

Star Trek....The End of an era
I've been a trekkie for most of my life. I've enjoyed all the treks, including The Original Series, and now, they have announced Enterprise will be ending prematurely after this season.

At first I was saddened by I surely wasn't surprised. For many years now I felt that Trek is something that is being "over exposed" and "Over used". I have honestly told people that Paramount and TPTB should put the show on hiatus, give it time so the casual viewer has something else so when a new Trek show does come, which I hope it will, the casual viewer can once again get into it. Also, TPTB needs to quit shooting from the hip and think things through. They need to come up with a decent story line and perhaps run arcs off of that. DS9's main story line at the end was the war against the Dominion, which kept a lot of viewers interested. JMS of B5 had a story line and had the show run simular to a soap opera, where if you miss a week, you might miss something important. More imporatntly, he added a few hints/forshadowing that at the time didn't make any sence at all but a season or two later you went and said..."Wait....where did I see this before?" I felt that was brilliant, not to mention my wife was a constant viewer and she hates sci fi.

So, those of us out there who are pure trekkies, who bleed green blood and come May will no longer be able to watch a new show of Trek can only hope that this Hiatus is just a short term issue, that perhaps TPTB at Paramount will sit down, come up with decent ideas, put it on papaer and follow their plan.

Until the next show/movie comes out

Live Long and Prosper

Where has CHRISTMAS gone?
Well it's that time of year again, which apparently can't be called Christmas anymore. Due to some people who feel we violate everyone's right by using Christian phrases such as "In God we Trust" or "One Nation Under God" or if we celebrate Christian holidays like Christmas or Easter however, people can celebrate Chanukah or Kwanzaa.

It's really burns me up when I hear Kids at school can't sing Christmas song with the word 'Christmas' in it. They have to sing "We Wish you a Happy Holiday, we wish you a happy holiday..". Doesn't that take the rights of my kids away from them? We preach for unity and to rid discrimination however we are now des criminating our own beliefs because it might tread on someone else's beliefs. In a world with multi religions, cultures and beliefs we have to give up what we believe in because someone wants to make the US become a Politically Correct nation.

I pity our kids because they are now growing up in a country and world where out basic freedoms are being stripped from us. I hope all you PC'ers are happy. Of course you will never be happy until you start burning books, committing genocide or live in a place where there are no freedoms.

See you in Hell, PC'ers.

To everyone else have a Very Merry Christmas/Happy Chanukah/Happy Kwanzaa.

Work
Well, some rather interesting things happened to me the past couple months as far as work. First I was hired late last year by a publishing company. Unfortunately (for me) this company didn't pay much for the work I did (I was being paid 60%-70% what I was being paid). What I found out was this company paid it's people 60% to 70% of what someone else in that particular industry pays. Now you may ask why would anyone take the job. Well, after discussions with others in this company, I discovered that a lot of us were previously unemployed and our unemployment was running out/near the end/ or we were working retail/fast food. Now, lets look at things. You are currently making minimum wage and are offered to make three times that knowing you used to make five times that but can't find anything else...what's the smart thing to do....Take the job.

Well, I still had bills to pay with being unemployed for two years so of course I took the job, but I continued to work for a better position. Well, the head of the company began to search the internet job boards and discovers several employees are looking for other jobs. All of a sudden, certain employees are pulled into the "Chief"'s office and questioned about this. So now we all suspect "Chief" is paranoid about losing the employees even though it was brought up to him that people are looking because he doesn't pay enough. But no, he firmly believes that he pays in the top 25% of the industry (yeah....maybe the fast food industry).

Suddenly, some employees got lucky and found jobs elsewhere. (Oh NO!!!). So "Chief" who is already paranoid, begins to panic and starts to be strict (certain privilidges are taken away - I used to be able to listen to books on tape/CD on my headphones as I worked but was told no more, however I could still listen to music on my headphones...; people aren't getting bonuses-I never saw one cent of a bonus, everyone is questioned about everything, etc). On top of this, "The Company" isn't earning as much as it did the previous year so the "Chief" is now even more paranoid.

Well, I have a family to think about so I got a second job working for Big Blue in the Movie Rental Business (Blockbuster). This didn't make "Chief" happy and I was actually asked why I took a second job. Luckily I can think quickly on my feet and I replied that I needed to take care of the debt I obtained while I was unemployed for two years. This seemed to convince "Chief".

Well, as stated, "The Company" was in trouble and had to make some hard choices (of which us lemmings were suspecting). So to cover itself, "Chief" decides to audit "The Company"'s Financial and Technilogical systems (however he seemed to focus more on the technical side). So, to no one's surprise...four of us were let go.

Ah but my story doesn't end there...I have found a way to get a final laugh. Within ten days, I was contacted by a headhunter (who I had called just after I was laid off and informed him of my situation) who told me he found something for me but I had to be willing to act fast. So within 72 hours, I was interviewed, hired and began working a new job. But it gets better you see. The new job actually pays me what I'm worth so in two weeks, I got a new job with a pay raise of over $10,000.

So I will say Thanks to the "Chief". You may be cheap but you actually helped me out. :)

Star Trek: Enterprise
I'm a big Trek fan.  I've enjoyed all the movies, series, books (except those written by Shatner, but that's another blog).  Well, I just found out that Enterprise (notice no Star Trek before it...I did that on purpose) was picked up but moved to Friday nights.  Well, I new Enterprise was terminal but now it has one foot in the grave.  Just ask anyone, with the exceptions of a few shows, any move to Friday's are signs the show will only last one more season.

Now, before I rant and rave some more, let me just give you all a little history.  A few years back, when the idea of Enterprise was coming into existence, I was saying Paramount needs to stop doing Trek shows and put Trek on hiatus for several years.  To be honest, everyone is burned out with Star Trek.  Everyone I spoke with about it shared my opinion but Hollywood's motto is if you can make money on something good, keep squeezing it for money until you only get lemonade.  And sadly, we may be seeing the beginning of the end for Star Trek.  I still think the only hope us Trekkies have is to convince TPTB (The Powers That Be) to "Drop back and punt".  Go on hiatus and think through a five year series.  Start with a concept, think about the audience, and follow through.

Well, I'm still going to watch next season in hopes I'm wrong but somehow, I don't even know if Bones McCoy could save this show now....
