Welcome to Paradys
The strange and the tormented dwell in Paradys-prowling its dark streets and
twisted alleyways, passing the endless hours in the city's elegant mansions
and smoke-tarnished inns, wandering in moldering graveyards and the stark
surrounding countryside. For the land here is bound by a timeless,
soul-chilling magic, and that power has cast its spell over all who have ever
lived in this foreboding and dangerous place.
Tanith Lee, The Secret Books of Paradys I & II
Paradys is a AD&D 2nd campaign setting I'm working on. To date, it has
only been played as a real-life campaign, but there are plans in the
works for a play-by-email version, though it is not currently being
run. It is influenced
very strongly by Tanith Lee's Paradys books, as well as elements from Tolkien,
Lovecraft, Clive Barker, Ann Rice, and some of my other favorite authors (would
you believe Coleridge?). It has also been strongly influenced by T$R's
Ravenloft setting and English Mythology (Oh great water
leapers...). Many things are different in this setting, races and
classes have been changed, magic does not work in the same predictable
way, and there are no such things as alignments. Paradys is a city of
thieves and magic wielders, a bard's dream, and a priest's torment,
but fighters may live the longest.

since my players have web browsers as well, I'm afrid I can't post it
all just yet, more will appear as the players uncover the surprises in
store for them.
