Train

One of the best bands to hit the airwaves, in my opinion, in a very long time is the band Train. I had heard "Meet Virginia" on the radio and instantly loved the song. Then Train was VH-1's inside track artist and after hearing just clips of their other songs, I had to buy the CD. To date, it is one of my favorites I can listen to 10 times a day CDs. To me, it's a CD about the simple things in life, it can make you feel good about life, and it's great to chill to.

I was thrilled back in April to learn that Train would be playing here in Memphis. Of course I was there and the concert was wondful!! They played the New Daisie theater on historic Beale Street. I had never seen a show at the New Daisie but it was an awesome experience. I stood right at the rail right in front of the stage. I was close enough to see facial expression, which was wonderful to see how much the band actually enjoyed playing. And I got to see just what a beutiful head of hair Rob Hotchkiss has. Ok OK OK like anyone but me is interested in that detail. Then they played Meet Virginia. What can I say, I was moved, I cried... just like I knew I would. Then to top it off, Jimmy threw the pick into the audience after he played the awesome guitar solo. The best souvenir ever! And of course I asked a roadie nicely and got a set list. I think it was Rob's.

About the week before the midsouth fair, a radio station announced the band line up for the week. A co-worker of mine was on her way home and called me from her cell phone to tell me Train was coming. I think they heard me screaming in delight on the other side of the office.
Wednesday September 27 at 8:00. Again, I asked fair officials nicely and landed tickets to the VIP center section. By the time Train played, my friend and I had gotten to the second row, center. It was another fabulous show. These pictures are from this show. Sure they didn't turn out all that well but the idea is still there. A couple of the songs they did were from their up coming album which according to their website has a February release date. Of course back at the may concert the release date was October. Oh well. I'll be strong. The great thign about a Train concert is the wonderful interaction Patrick has with the crowd. Very personable. Again, I asked nicely and got the setlist for this concert. This time it was Patrick's. yaay!! After the concert I did a groupie thing and waited at the back of the concert area adn the guys were wonderful enough to come out and talk with the crowd. It was an honor to meet them. They are wonderful guys who can play wonderful music.
