Family Definitions

Family: Collection of individuals with long-term emotional, financial, and other commitments to each other.
Parent: Someone who changes diapers, holds crying children, and teaches them to respect themselves and others.
Sperm and egg donors: Individuals who contribute genetic material to children but who do not show the traits of parenthood.

Family Policy Oxymorons

Defense of Marriage Act: My marriage is fine, thank you. I don't need an Act of Congress to preserve it or to demean us all by implying that the core of a marriage is sex.
Pro-family Republicans: I do not mean that pro-family Republicans don't exist. They generally do not use that label, however.
