Inuit Powers

(For On Hallowed Ground)

The Inuit, a race of humans from even further north than the Northmen who worship the Aesir, hold creation to be the work of three great spirits. Whether or not these beings are truly powers is uncertain, but they seem to be closely enough related to the powers as to be classed as the same. It may be that once they were elemental creatures that subsequently ascended to powerhood through the worship of the Inuit. The Inuit pantheon maintains no links with any other powers except the elemental lords, with whom they are all on good terms. In accordance with the rule of threes, there are three principal powers in the pantheon, one male, one female and one neuter. They dwell in the Outlands, out of their respect for the natural order, and they emphasise that their worshippers know their place in the universal scheme.

Sila

Greater Power, "The Air Spirit"

AoC: Weather, Intelligence, the Air

AL: N(G)

WAL: Any

Symbol: None known

Home P/L/R: Outlands/Hinterlands/The Frozen Reaches

Known Proxies: Lots of air elementals.

Sila, better known by its title of the Air Spirit, is a neuter power who is basically benevolent but behaves vengefully towards those who stray from the way of truth. Anyone who does what is right by his fellow man and by nature has nothing to fear, but those who are evil may fall ill or suffer misfortune by the god's intervention. Never seen, the Air Spirit's presence is heralded by violent snowfall. The power's dwelling lies in the skies high over the Frozen Reaches of the Hintersee, shrouded in clouds.

Tarqeq

Greater Power, "The Moon Spirit"

AoC: Hunting, fertility, morality, animals, the moon.

AL: N(LG)

WAL: Any

Symbol: The disc of the moon

Home P/L/R: Outlands/Hinterlands/The Frozen Reaches

Known Proxies: None

Tarqeq, better known as the Moon Spirit, is a fearsome but benevolent power, warning his followers to act morally and with respect for others, or risk the consequences. Like all the Inuit powers, his first concern is the harmony of the universe, but he sees morals as integral to this. He dwells in the sky over the Frozen Reaches, in a separate realm from that of the Air Spirit. When night comes to the Reaches, his realm can be seen glowing overhead, casting a silver light over the ice floes.

Sedna

Greater Power, "The Sea Spirit"

AoC: All edible creatures, the sea, ice.

AL: N(G)

WAL: Any

Symbol: None known

Home P/L/R: Outlands/Hinterlands/Frozen Reaches

Known Proxies: Three Leviathans (Monstrous Manual, 'Whale')

Also called Nuliajuk, the Sea Spirit is accounted the leader of the Inuit pantheon. However, this is due mainly to the fact that she is marginally more powerful than the others. She does not attempt to exert any authority over her companions, and in return, they don't stir it up with her. The Sea Spirit is responsible for all the things that the Inuit eat, and she sends forth seals and other creatures from her realm in the deepest point of the ocean under the ice cap in the Hintersee. Rumour has it that the Sea Spirit was once mortal who died resisting a forced marriage, and drowned, becoming the Sea Spirit in union with the sea.
