In this all-new section, I'm proud to present Afterburner's excellent rules for genasi from non-elemental planes. I would like to put a word in before we get to the links about ancestry. There has been controversy on the Planescape Mailing List concerning the parentage of genasi. There seems to be a strongly-held idea that genasi (and tieflings and aasimar and the rest) gain their attributes only by being born to other-than-mortal parents, and that genetics are to blame for all and any characteristics they display. This is not the case. A large proportion of plane-touched births are just that: plane-touched. Having been exposed at some point in their development to an unusual planar environment (and in the cases of the places visited by Dustmen, Doomguard and Abyss Cultists, these can be very unusual indeed) the children of ordinary mortal races can be born as tieflings, genasi or aasimar. This goes doubly for the Inner Planes, where material things and energy press heavier on the minds of the residents than on the Outer Planes, driven as they are by belief. So, without further preaching, here are the new genasi!

Children of the Glacier: Ice Genasi, who long for something more fulfilling than their home plane.

Dwellers of the Mud: Overachieving fellows from the plane of Ooze whose main desire is to better the bad reputation of their home and to prove themselves worthy of more than normal ideas of slime.

Explorers of Lava: Introspective intellectuals whose still flows run deep like their semi-molten homeland of Magma.

Shadows of the Vapours: Secretive city-lovers from the choking wastes of Smoke.

Scions of the Dying Embers: Ash Genasi with a passion for the wilderness.

Loreseekers of the Eroding Sands: Dust Genasi who can crumble rock with a touch but would rather study it.

Vassals of the Storm: Lightning Genasi whose electrifying fervour is often channelled into religion.

Inheritors of Glittering Stones: Generous souls from the heart of Mineral, who inherit all to give it away.

Wanderers of the Brine: Salt Genasi who sail the seven seas of Prime.

Lanterns of the Mists: Steam Genasi who like to illuminate what's dark in all things.

Offspring of the Void: Hyper-clueless genasi from the Plane of Vacuum, who seek to know more than nothing, which is what they start with.
