What IS exactly the "Watchmen"? Well, it's a comic book. And if you are anything like I was you have no idea whatsoever it's about. You may have seen the familiar smiley face with the blood stain as the symbol affiliated with the book. So, what's it about? Hippies? Well, it's got hippies. Take the title the "Watchmen". What's the story about? Some old guys that make watches? Well, it's got them too. The "Watchmen" is a what-if super-heroes were real type story, touching on how they would have changed the course of history. Imagine a world free of gas powered cars. Imagine Nixon remaining President for two decades. Imagine a world free of war. Imagine the world of the Watchmen.
Now, I'm sure you've heard this before.... "The Watchmen requires multiple readings to truly appreciate it's fine detail."..... Well, I'm gonna' say it again.... The Watchmen requires multiple readings to truly appreciate it's fine detail! The Watchmen more like a movie on paper than your standard newstand super-hero comic. Moore used metaphor, foreshadowing, and plenty of flashbacks (with the help of the multi-talented Dave Gibbons) to heighten the story, and enjoyment.
Dave Gibbons This is that other guy you always here of. Gibbon's is responsible for the awesome artwork in the Watchmen. Although it may not be the average "all flash" style used by just about "EVERYONE" in the comics industry, Dave's attention to detail is astounding. Even to the smallest degree. He's credited for the electric powered car idea, by drawing little electric power stations on the sides of the roads. His other works include....
