Caseous appears Fridays during the school year in The Minnesota Daily, the student newspaper of the University of Minnesota. The cartoon features the misadventures of Frog, Bear, Fish, and Gnome and the stupid stuff they do. A majority of the cartoons stand on their own, while others are part of a multiple-cartoon storyline. Here you'll find a complete archive of Caseous, plus some behind-the-scenes art, words, and more! We could tell you how the cartoons are loaded with pop culture references, metaphorical life messages, fun art, witty dialogue, and gnomes punching buffalos, but we should really let the cartoons speak for themselves.

    Story Arc I: "The Phantom Exursion" (04.29.99-06.03.99) tells the tale of Frog, Bear, Fish, and Gnome as they go see "Star Wars - Episode One: The Phantom Menace." We have finally found higher-quality scans of these first five cartoons - check 'em out! Think of it as a "remastered" printing, or something...

    SEASON TWO 10.01.99 - 12.15.99

    Season Two saw the beginning of multiple cartoon storylines. It also set the precedent for many characteristics of the main characters as they began to find there place in single cartoon stories. The season also follows the time of year well by its inclusion of Bear hibernating in December. This leads directly into Season Three.

    SEASON THREE 01.21.00 - 05.05.00

    Season Three picks up where Season Three left off with Bear hibernating. Midway through the season, Caseous went to a twice a week schedule. During this time, there were several two-part Caseous storylines. These turned out to be the most successful multiple cartoon storylines because they would appear right in a row (Thursday-Friday) instead of once a week over a period of time.

  • 18 - 01.21.00 "WHEN NO ONE'S LOOKING" With everyone else hibernating, Fish is left to his own devises.
  • 19 - 01.28.00 "DREAM" Bear finally gets his beef jerky; sort of.
  • 20 - 02.03.00 "ETHICS" Back from hibernation, Frog faces a moral dilemma with Steve.
  • 21 - 02.10.00 "JERK" Plain and simple, here are several examples of extreme jerkness.
  • 22 - 02.18.00 "AFFLICTION" Ms. Pac-Man rules Frog's life.

    SEASON FOUR 09.08.00 - 12.13.00

    Season Four expands on character development as the characters interact with each other at a new level. This season's mulitple cartoon storyline involves self-imposed loser Fish finally getting his chance at romance.

    SEASON FIVE 01.19.01 - 05.04.01

    The fifth season of Caseous wrapped up with a cliffhanger ending. The conclusion will soon be posted to the internet as a web-exclusive finale to Season Five. This latest season of Caseous saw a new multiple cartoon storyline as voted on by a webpoll at Caseous.com. Another cartoon, "Hip," featured a return of the supporting cast member, The Boy, again as voted on by an online webpoll. These webpolls are only the start of our readers' interactivity with Caseous.

    The sixth season of Caseous recently wrapped up this December! It ended on with a cliffhanger season finale that's briskly picked up in Season Seven!
