Web Site Presentation

When it comes to presentation, some key words come to mind such as:

[*]Delivery
[*]Display
[*]Exhibition
[*]Exposition
[*]Performance
[*]Production
[*]Showing
[*]Spectacle

If you consider envisioning your site in respect to some of the terms indicated above, then you will have the right mind set that will enable your creative energies to start working. For example, without having been on the Web. What attracts you to pick up a magazine or a book? What about ads that are run on television or published in a magazine, what is it about these ads that holds your attention for months on end?

Sure you can say, it's the information that you are looking for. However, that's only part of the strategy for a Web site design. Don't get me wrong, content is important, but the presentation is what leaves an everlasting impression.

In the case of a book or magazine, isn't it the cover or title or name that attracts you to pick it up? Here's another example, haven't you gone on a search for a specific piece of information, but have suddenly been distracted from your original quest by something that is more attractive or interesting?

Your presentation will depend heavily upon the intent of your Web site. What I mean by intent is simply this:

Do you intend to...

[*]Entertain?
[*]Provide information?
[*]Offer a service or services?
[*]Offer a product or products?

Perhaps, your intent is to include all of the above or maybe you have a totally different idea in mind. But, whatever it is, make your presentation:

[*]Easy to understand
[*]An enjoyable experience

Okay, so now let's also understand who the target audience may be and what they may be using to visit your Web site. So let's take the following into account:

[*]Internet connection (speed)
[*]Web browser (visual effects)

To sum it all up, your presentation will leave an impression with your audience. It's up to you as to what that impression may be.

People don't care how much you know or what you can offer until they know how much you care.
