About the Science quiz

The Science Quiz is an interactive HTML page using Javascript.
The actual program resides on the page. Browsers like Netscape Navigator version 2 and 3 and Microsoft Internet Explorer 3 have a built-in Javascript interpreter that processes the page content.
These browsers also have the possibility to save data on the client computer using cookies. The Science Quiz uses cookie files to save user input and the results.
The program was developed on a machine running Windows 95 using "HTML Writer" and Netscape 2.0. Later the program was enhanced for the Microsoft IE 3.0 browser. The questions for the quiz are translated from the Dutch "Nationale Wetenschapsquiz", a once yearly event on TV in Holland.
The program was uploaded to geocities at the start of Juli 1996. Since then I have made several improvements, mainly concerning with the difficulties of makeing the program more reliable and faster, even using a slow connection.
The last development is the "automatic guestbook". This service by lpage.com opens the possibility of a totally automatic operation: the results are submitted by the user him/herself to the Guestbook page. There is no longer a need for a human to maintain a "results" page: it is maintained by the users themselves.
A few programming errors made the submission process impossible in the last weeks (first two weeks of september), but I think I've cracked that now. Enjoy the program !
