A small number of important classical and medieval literaryworks are housed here, including Chaucer and Hesiod, Homer andHomerica. Although in most instances the texts are quite long,they are all managable. What would be useful, though, is someaccompanying material to help put them in context.

This rather nifty site claims to be the first public libraryof and for the Internet community. It works like a real libraryso for example if you step into the Reading Room, you can dig outbooks, magazines, journals and ezines (in various languages). Aquick peek in the Exhibit Hall reveals things like photographycollections and sound files . The Library needs to expand - forexample, only five of Charles Dickens' books are listed - butit's still a handy resource.

NetCarta WebMaps let you view the entire content of a site inthe form of a map (well, a directory tree) so you don't have towait for each page to load in your browser. First you'll need todownload a map viewer, such as CyberPilot (which works alongsideyour browser). Then you open the map and double-click the mapobject you want to see - this will then appear in the browser.This site contains a trial version of CyberPilot and, of course,a library of the maps themselves. Its a nice idea, but by thetime you've downloaded the browser, obtained a map and so on, youmight as well have flipped through the site anyway.

This is a great place to start looking for all thingsmedical. It's a guide to the Medical Library's collections andfacilities. Of course, there's also a collection of onlineinformation, with access to reference books, online journals andso on. You can find details of the training courses on offer atthe library and there are plenty of useful links to otherorganisations, electronic journals, newspapers, and referenceguides.

This archive contains hundreds of thousands of words, rangingfrom the complete works of Shakespeare to the script of a lostepisode of Star Trek. Only pornographic images are banned.Consequently, it warns that some material may be offensive.Despite fairly extensive trawling, the most offensive stuff seenso far was some truly appalling poetry. It can also be accessedvia FTP at the same address.
