        FIND ME A SUBJECT
Find me a subject I’ve not written about before,
Or one I have used but enter through a different door,
Maybe see sweet nature through that of plant or tree,
So for a short moment be part of natures great mystery .

I’ll be a bright eyed daisy living but for a week or more
Growing in green meadows or a forests succulent floor,
I am sure I would make t he most of my short life’s span,
Stretching up to the sun wondering if I’ll be picked by man.

Maybe be a shy lovely violet hardly seen by anyone at all,
But in delicate beauty live well until it is my time to fall,
Have given unseen beauty and sweet fragrance to a dell,
But I know that every short moment I would have lived well.

What if I were to enter a pine, fast growing tall and strong,
Sending up my branches to shelter creatures, that’s not wrong,
Give to all the forest that clean refreshing smell that’s just mine,
Give away hundreds of cones on which birds and beasts may dine.

The doors that I could open and enter be part of nature true,
Would take forever to tell so I have chosen just these few,
I’ll safe some other doors for another day to enter right in
When I want to get away for awhile from a world of sin.
