What is a Mother?

A Mother has so many things to do,

From washing, ironing, cleaning to tying a shoe.

She scrubs, she mends, she cooks and sews,

She bathes the children and washes their clothes.

When they forget to wash their faces clean,

And their clothes are the muddiest you've ever seen,

Who repairs the clothes and scrubs them like new?

Of course, that is what a Mother will do.

Who becomes the doctor or the nurse when they are ill,

Applying a bandage or giving them a pill?

Who becomes a teacher when a child has homework?

She must never her duty shirk.

Who becomes a detective to find a toy or a book?

For missing things she must look and look?

Who becomes a listner to every heartache,

To every accompolishment that a child makes?

Who scolds their children when they are naughty,

Or remind them of God when they are to haughty?

Who tends her family with love and patience, too?

Of course that is what a Mother will do.

We got this old Poem from our Mother when we were first married and I would like to give it back to her with many thanks for all that she has done for me and continues to do. Thank you MOM and we love you from the Heart.

To My Second Mother

We surely were lucky when God gave us you. For real second Mothers, they say are so few. You've played your role nobly, your motherly touch. Came just when we really did need you so much. And now that we're older, married and grown, Some of us have children, and homes of our own. We know what it meant, when a person like oyu, Took hold of a family, and carried it through. To all of the homes, where there must be another. I hope that God gives them, Our kind of a Mother.

A special Thank you to all the moms that have taken on the roll of being the 2nd mom.

A Mother's Prayer

God, give me wisdom to see that today is my day with my children.

That there is no unimportant moment in their lives.

May I know no other creer is s precious,

No other work so rewarding,

No other task so urgent.

May i not defer it nor neglect it,

Butt by thy Spirit accept it gladly, jously,

and by thy grace realize

That the time is short and my time is now,

For children won't wait! By Helen M. Young

Please, Mom and Dad

My hands are small...I don't mean to spill my milk.

My legs are short...please slow down so I can keep up with you.

Don't slap my hands when I touch something bright and pretty...I don't understand.

Please look at me when I talk to you...it lets me know you are relly listening.

My feelings are tender...Don't nag me all day...

Let me make mistakes without feeling stupid.

Don't expect the bed I make or picture I draw to be perfect...just love me for trying.

Remember I a child, not a small adult...sometimes I don't understand what you are saying, but I'm not ignoring you.

I love you so much...please love me just for being me,not just for the things I do. This was given to me from my daughter many yers ago when she was lil' in a Mothers day card.

Poem for Mom

When the good Lord was creating mothers He was into His sixth day of

"overtime" when the angel appeared and said, "You're doing a lot of fiddling around this one."

And the Lord said, "Have you read the specs on this order? She has to be completely washable, but not plastic; Have 180 moveable parts... all replaceable; Run on black coffee and leftovers; Have a lap that disappears when she stands up; A kiss that can cure anything from broken leg to a disappointed love affair; And six pairs of hands."

The angel shook her head slowly and said, "Six pairs of hands... no way."

"It's not the hands that are causing me problems," said the Lord. "It's the three pairs of eyes that mothers have to have."

"That's on the standard model?" asked the angel.

The Lord nodded. "One pair that sees through closed doors when she asks, "What are you kids doing in there?" when she already knows.

Another here in the back of her head that sees what she shouldn't but what she has to know, and of course the ones here in front that can look at a child when he goofs up and say, "I understand and I Love You" without so much as uttering a word."

"Lord", said the angel, toughing His sleeve gently, "Come to bed. Tomorrow..."

"I can't," said the Lord, "I'm so close to creating something so close to myself. Already I have one who heals herself when she is sick... can feed a family of six on one pound of hamburger... and can get a nine-year-old to stand under a shower."

The angel circled the model of a mother very slowly. "It's too soft," she sighed. "But tough!" said the Lord excitedly. "You cannot imagine what this mother can do or endure."

"Can it think?"

"Not only think, but it can reason and compromise," said the Creator.

Finally, the angel bent over and ran her finger across the cheek.

"There's a leak," she pronounced. "I told You. You were trying to put too much into this model."

"It's not a leak," said the Lord, "it's a tear."

"What's it for?"

"It's for joy, sadness, disappointment, pain, loneliness and pride."

"You are a genius," said the angel.

The Lord looked somber. "I didn't put it there."

You Know Your A Mom When:

1. You count the sprinkles on each kid's cupcake to make sure they're equal.

2. You have the time to shave only one leg at a time.

3. You hide in the bathroom to be alone.

4. Your kid gets sick and you catch it.

5. Some one else's kid is sick... You keep your kid away from them.

6. You consider finger paints to be a controlled substance.

7. You've mastered the art of placing large quantities of pancakes and eggs on a plate without anything touching.

8. Your child insists that you read "Once Upon a Potty" out loud in the lobby of Grand Central Station and you do it.

9. You cling to the high moral ground on toy weapons, your child chews his toast into the shape of a gun.

10. You hope ketchup is a vegetable, since it's the only way your child eats.

11. You can't bear the thought of your son's first girlfriend.

12. You hate the thought of his wife even more.

13. You find yourself cutting your husbands' sandwiches into cute shapes.

14. You can't bear to give away baby clothes - it's so final.

15. You hear your mother's voice coming out of your mouth when you say, "NOT in your good clothes!"

16. You stop criticizing the way your mother raised you.

17. You donate to charities in the hope that your child won't get that disease.

18. You hire a sitter because you have't been out with your husband in ages, then spend half the night checking on the kids.

19. You use your own saliva to clean your child's face.

20. You say at least once a day, "I'm not cut out for this job", but you know you wouldn't trade it for anything.

To My Mom

Special Friend

From the first moment I saw you,

I knew we would be together forever.

Somehow, I knew we were made for each other.

The gentle touch of your hand across my face assured me of that.

My smiles made you laugh

And your smiles made me safe.

I could come to you at anytime,

Ask you about anything,

And know the answer was genuine,

Because your spirited eyes always spoke the truth.

As time passed by,

We formed a bond my sister couldn't understand.

We helped each other grow into new and better people.

Making promises to keep in touch.

Laughing at jokes no one else could comprehend.

Your whispers become words of wisdom,

And mine became your deepest thoughts.

Our relationship is endless.

Though miles of empty land and spacious sky have come between us,

I feel us becoming closer.

My world is forever growing,

But not so much that it is too big for you.

You are my mother,

You are my friend,

That will never change.

For without you,

I am nothing!

-Poem by Ellen Sager

I Am Thinking Of You

I am so glad that we have found our friendship.

It means so much to me. And though you are not right across

the street you are right here next to me. I love you mom!

What's a Grandmother

A grandmother is a lady who has no children of her own. She likes other people's little girls and boys. A grandfather is a man grandmother. He goes for walks with the boys, and they talk about fishing and stuff like that.

Grandmothers don't have to do anything except to be there. They're so old that they shouldn't play hard or run. It is enough if they drive us to the market where the pretend horse is, and have lots of dimes ready. Or if they take us for walks, they should slow down past things like pretty leaves and caterpillars. They should never say "hurry up."

Usually, grandmothers are fat, but not too fat to tie your shoes. They wear glasses and funny underwear. They can take their teeth and gums off.

Granmothers don't have to be smart, only answer questions like, "Why isn't God married?" and "How come dogs chase cats?"

Grandmothers don't talk baby like visitors do, because it is hard to understand. When they read to us they don't skip or mind if it is the same story over again.

Everybody should try to have a grandmother, especially if they don't have television, because they are the only grown-ups who have the time.
