Basics of Use of Bookmarks
Bookmarks can be stored on a floppy as well as within your browser.
Most people have a bookmark back-up floppy "just in case."
You can share bookmark floppies with others who have similar systems.

To load a bookmark file into your browser from a floppy:
Insert floppy in drive (usually drive "A")
Open browser and gain access to the Internet
Open menu for "bookmarks" and "go to bookmarks"
On dialog box menu, open "file"
click on "import file"
The menu selections will be from the current folder;
Click the down-arrow properties to see the other folders and drives available,
Click on the floppy drive and then click on the bookmark file you wish to upload.
This will "import" the entire file to your bookmark file
Start creating folders so that you are able to see all the entries on the screen at once




Creating folders in the Bookmark File:
Folders help to organize your links around the net and they also make the listings
condensed enough to appear on the screen all at once
To create a folder, open menu for "bookmarks" and "go to bookmarks"
Position your arrow on the bookmark listing at the point where you wish
to insert a folder (highlighted in color)
Click the "Item" menu selection and click "insert folder"
A "new folder" will appear and you can hit the backspace key once
To rename the folder, then click OK.
Individual files you wish to incorporate into that folder can be highlighted,
Then click "edit" on the menu and click "cut"
Now click the folder where you wish to place the item and then click "edit"
on the menu and "paste"
Each time you want to paste in an item (folder or file), it will appear exactly
below the highlighted location
You can even have "sub-folders" within folders

EX: You might want a main folder named "Legal Research" and several
sub-folders within it named "University Libraries", "Secondary Sources", etc.
You can change the name of any folder or file link by clicking to highlight it,
Click "Item" and click "properties".
Hit the backspace key once and rename the folder or file,
Click OK.

The HTML language on the floppy isn't able to divide the files into the folders--
you'll have to do that for yourself.




Adding the Current Site to the Bookmark Listing:
Click "bookmarks" and click "Add Bookmark"
Click "Go to Bookmarks" to move this new site into the desired folder
