My research
on how people balance work and family is the fieldwork
for my thesis. I went to South Florida for 6 months to
study how home-workers balance work and family, and the
study later expanded to include other types of work and
senior citizens.
The research
focused on how people (parents and women in particular)
manage to integrate the demands of a job with the
responsibilities of having a family.
This focus was
based on an interest in how work and family as
institutions have changed since the industrialization and
how the locus of family (and at times work); the home has
changed its meaning over time.
I am in the
process of analyzing my empirical material at the moment.
As threads begin to fit together and I get it in writing
I will add the results to this page.

Family - the survey.
