Description of Class

 

Prerequisite: Introduction to Physical Education

Level: A

Grade: 10, 11, 12

Length: Semester

Credit: 1/4

A field and stream class for the sportsman including safety, skills, and techniques of fishing, fly tying, gun safety, archery, survival, cardiovascular fitness, canoeing, hiking, camping, skiing, walking and orienteering. Over half of class time is in the classroom. Fees charged for field trips.

 

Class Syllabus

Objectives of the Course

  1. Students will become familiar with various outdoor recreational activities
  2. Students will learn proper safety procedures for all activities.
  3. Students will have an appreciation of the environment.

 

Grading Procedure

  1. 50% written test
  2. 50% participation/cooperation/attitude/effort

Some examples include, but are not limited to the following:

Improper dress

Equipment abuse

Profanity

Fighting

*Dangerous behavior

Insubordination

Lack of effort

Tardy

Failure to follow directions

Disrespect

Learning new skills

Helping others or with equipment

 

*DANGEROUS BEHAVIOR could result in loss of credit.

  1. Downhill skiing at Perfect North Slopes
  2. Ten mile canoeing on the Little Miami River
