The following are pictures of the
Italian motorbike.
I purchased it for $2.oo from a
neighbor!
At the time it did not run and
I knew little about it.
After struggling to figure out
its strange-to-me motor, I took it to a shop that understood the name Minarelli
which was stamped on the motor. The mechanic(& shop owner)said that
the bike was Itallian but based on a moped engine. The tires are the original
Pirellis! He rebuilt the carb (a Dellorto SHA14 12), pollished the cyllinder
and piston and installed new rings and plug. We now had a running motorbike
for $42!
Spring of 2000 we decided to brush
the dust off it and my son started riding again. His friend, crashed it
into a fence & bent the fork under. I took the bent pieces to a shop
($30)and had it straightened (and lengthened 2'). The progressive pictures
are shown below.
After the fork extension, the result
was a need to change the frame ($130) so the rider could stay on. We raked
the head tube and turned the tank around. Then we lowered the seat and
moved it forward. After a couple rides, it got a stripped, painted &
detailed. It looks like an easy-rider chopper with a coffin style tank.
