She stood by a stone bench in the middle of Central Park, her dark brown curls blowing in the cool breeze.

A very small ray of light from the sun hanging above glinted off of her shining halo of hair. Dressed in a white sweater and blue jeans, she was the picture of casualness.

"God, she looks like an angel, " he thought as he got out of his car.

Quietly, he walked over to her. Gently, he wrapped his arms around her, pulling her into his gentle embrace. She started, but relaxed quickly.

" Hey, " he spoke softly, his Southern accent gently apparent in his voice.

" Hi, " her quiet voice answered.

She turned to face him. His arms encircled her waist. He could see her soft blue eyes twinkling as she looked up into his face.

"How on earth did I get so lucky ??" she asked herself.

Her head rested against his chest as he hugged her tightly. Closing her eyes, her mind drifted to him. To his smile, his charm, his sense of humor, his sweetness, his beautiful green eyes, everything. Suddenly, she opened her eyes and glanced at him. He was gazing intently and curiously at her.

" What ?? " she asked.

He shook his head.

" Nothing, I'm just looking at you, thinking of how beautiful you really are, " he replied shyly.

Her cheeks flushed pink.

" Be quiet, " she laughed.

But his handsome face was solemn.

" I mean it, you are beautiful, " he said.

Her lips twisted into a shy smile as she snuggled tighter into his arms. She sighed.

" What's wrong, sweetie ?? " he asked.

She shook her head.

" I was just sighing, don't worry, " she replied.

His face was troubled and his pale green eyes were clouded over. She reached a hand up to gently caress his cheek. He clasped his hand over hers for one quick moment.

" Just do it, " his heart told him.

Quietly, his hands reached down and tilted her chin up. His blonde head bent down and their lips met. Her eyes fluttered shut. A slight tingling sensation ran through her whole body.

Their lips parted. A pair of blue eyes gazed into a pair of green eyes and they both smiled.

" Wow, " she whispered.

All he could do was nod his agreement. Without saying a word, he kissed her again. She blushed, but smiled.

" I've been wanting to do that for a long time, " he said.

" So why didn't you, then ?? " she asked curiously.

" I was scared to, " he confided. " I was worried I'd screw it all up, "

" Well, you didn't, did you ?? " she said with a laugh.

" Nope, " he confirmed, pressing his lips against hers.

" You know, " she sighed happily. "I think I am really enjoying this, "

" Me too, " he said with a smile that could light a room.

Suddenly, he scooped her up into his arms and sat down on the nearby stone bench. She curled up in his arms as they tightened their grip on her.

" I wish we could just stay like this forever, " he said quietly.

" Me too, " she answered.

She sat up and wrapped her arms around his waist, nestling her head against his warm chest. She could still smell the lingering scent of his cologne on his shirt as she took a deep breath and let it out slowly. He rested his chin on top of her head and he too, took in a deep breath. He could still smell the lingering scent of the apple scented shampoo she always used on her hair as he found his cheek resting against her silky curls. He loved her scent, although he couldn't quite explain it. It confused him, but he pushed it away and continued to just hold her in his arms, letting her soft, beautiful scent wash over him and fill his heart and his soul.

They sat just holding each other for about twenty minutes. She sat and listened to his heart beat steadily as her cheek and ear were pressed against his chest.

Suddenly, he lifted his head and she looked up at him.

" Do you know how much I love you ?? " he asked.

" No, " she answered teasingly.

His face softened as she grinned up at him, her perfect white teeth showing. Tenderly he kissed her lips. She raised an eyebrow.

" You only love me that much ?? " she teased.

He winked at her. With a grin he kissed her lips. Then her cheeks, forehead, nose, chin, and lips again.

" Much better, "she laughed.

She then kissed him. They both laughed. She threw her arms around his neck. As they embraced, the sky that had suddenly turned cloudy and gray opened up and rain began to fall. She began to giggle. His arms wrapped tighter around her as he whispered into her ear:

" Dance with me, "

She looked at him like he was crazy.

" What are you talking about ?? " she asked.

He placed a finger on her lips.

" Shh, don't say anymore, just follow my lead, " he answered her.

He began to sing softly as they slowly began to dance.

" Just close your eyes

To each lovin' day

And know this feelin' won't go away

Til the day my life is though

This I promise you

This I promise you..."

He twirled her around and pulled her in closer. Their foreheads touched and he reached a hand up to push her wet hair off of her face. Rain dripped off of the ends of their noses and ran down onto their clothes. They shared a tender, wet kiss and then, they ran laughingly to his car, holding hands the whole way.

" I love you, " he said.

" I love you too, " she replied.

They drove away smiling, feeling the love they both shared in their hearts and feeling whole by having each other in their lives.
