Women In Literary ArtsWomen in search of a metaphorAt the first utterance of a word, once merely syllabicates, listens to its sound. At the second, one finds the self seeking meaning from memory, or else through a process of discovery. Finding the meaning, at final utterance, one strives to give the word flesh, and a heart to sustain the word and what it stands for. The group of writers who picked the word WILA have chosen to follow that line of utterance. WI-LA. Wi as we, with a long e sound. The la, pronounced as la with a broad short a sound. If one enunciates the first syllable carelessly, one risks invoking the name of a popular brand of shampoo. Which was what happened when the Cebu community first got wind of a group of women that called itself WILA. WILA Web designed by Maria Victoria Kapauan |
