Innovative Teaching

• Instrumental in fund-raising and purchase of first computers for Oldtown School;
• coordinated with Potomac Edison in the their funding and implementation of the first computer lab in Allegany County at Oldtown School;
• participated in writing computer curriculum, recommending purchases, and setting up labs for Allegany County's first computer courses, now offered at all county high schools;
• helped write the current environmental science curriculum for county course which is very issues / critical thinking / cooperative learning oriented;
• wrote environmental science curriculum for Upward Bound Science-Math Initiative 1992-95;
• received Chesapeake Bay Trust grants 1991-98 for developing environmental study area and doing stream and water field studies;
• produced software as part of Potomac Edison initiative to integrate technology in science;
• Baltimore Gas & Electric Grant on solar energy unit funded 1993;
• involved currently in integrating computer imagery and satellite feeds into science curriculum using direct readout station from NOAA satellites;
• NASA Ambassador Program at Goddard Space Flight Center - Summer 1996;
• Goddard Earth Systems Science Education Progam at NASA - Summers 1997-99;
• received $5000 EPA grant for Environmental Science water studies and WWW communication project;
• received $835 MD Science Supervisors Master Teacher Grant for Environmental Science aquaculture lesson development
