Notes:*Joseph Swinburn of Hogg Hill Farm- there is a war record for a Joseph Swinburn, son of John Swinburn of Benfieldside, Blackhill, Durham. Also the birth of Joseph Henry Swinburn is registered Q4 Lanchester 1884, died 5 September 1917.

    (2) An Ancestral File on the IGI database lists this William as marrying Ann Nicholson on 12 March 1890 with a large family of children. This cannot be correct as he was still single and living with his parents in 1901. The group of children are listed on the census with a different William at Gateshead (see William Swinburn of Newcastle and Gateshead). This William may be a descendant of John Swinburn of Newburn, Northumberland
