SWINBURNE, born on 13 September 1813 in Worcestershire, England, left a journal describing how he was apprenticed at the age of 14 or 15 to learn pearl button making in Birmingham*, went from Liverpool to New York (a voyage of 70 days) then sailed with his cousin, Chesterfield Stanley, to New Orleans, in 1854 he moved to Nacogdoches, Texas and worked as a brick mason, he joined the Confederate army, he died 1905 in Mexia, Limestone County, Texas, U.S.A., married 1844 Salem, Illinois, U.S.A. MARTHA ANN O'NEAL, born 15 December 1829 Tennessee, died before 18 December 1899 Mexia, Limestone County, Texas
