Information sought on a WILLIAM SWINBURNE from the 18th century who was an integral part of the colonial horse history of British North America. He was associated with race horses and was related to two brothers, Robert and Jenison SHAFTO. These three men raced horses together in a partnership known as "the Northumberland Confederacy". Both families had property in Northumberland and were very involved in racing in the county. The Shaftos also had property in Durham and Cambridgeshire. (sent by E.A.Curler 29.12.02)
