Expedition Notes: October 10, 1999 - I have been on the trail of the sharks for some time. . . This morning, as the subtle rays of dawn pierced the water, I was already in my wetsuit expieriencing the tremendous awe these creatures afford. Graceful, slick hunters prowling the sea. They are the most beautiful creatures I have ever seen. . . When I consider that they were among the first creatures to fully evolve on Earth, I cannot help but wondering if they were also among the first in the world to read Shakespeare. Undoubtedly, the sharks' advanced civilization has put forth many brilliant authors and playwrights, yet I believe that none of them can be compared to William Shakespeare. So they must be big fans as result. Big big fans. I bet the sharks have a whole civilization in underground caves. Although I haven't seen any such caves, I suppose they hide them very well. Since all those new cancer therapies involve sharks, I wonder if they have cured cancer. If so, our two races might be able to benefit greatly from each other. The humans would have a cure for cancer, and the sharks would stop being hunted for soup. Of course, my research assistant Sven has complimented me numerous times on how I look in a taut, sleek, sexy wetsuit. Even dispite the fact that I've already told him "I don't swing that way. . ." Its getting a little scary, actually. I'm all fine with the 'alternative lifestyles' thing, but Sven's got a wierd gleam in his eye. I love the sharks here, but I long for the day that my bottom is not in emminent danger. . . - Jeff Cousteau (More updates to come soon.) |
