What we did more of than anything else in the first 36 hours is sit and wait. Flight groups 1 and 2 received an added bonus excursion at no charge Monday. Yes, we got to visit beautiful Saginaw, Michigan last night! Well, so all we did was sit on the plane while it was refueled after being diverted to Saginaw because of bad weather in Detroit. We eventually connected with our flight to London and were actually only an hour or so late in landing.

Wednesday, December 30

This morning was free time free for students and chaperones to do some sight-seeing. After lunch, we rehearsed at St. Paul’s Church. We returned to the hotel for dinner, changed clothes, and returned to St. Paul’s to perform. We had an extremely proud group of chaperones and a band director who was more than proud. The students performed magnificently and were the hit of the program.

Thursday, December 31

This morning we boarded our buses for a bus tour of London. Along the way, we saw all of London’s favorite attractions and learned quite a bit about the city’s history. At the end of the tour we continued on to the village of Windsor for a tour of the village and of Windsor Castle, which is the week-end country home of the Queen. The level of luxury and the element of history that we experienced on this tour was simply beyond belief. In an hour, we’re off to another hotel for a giant New Year’s Eve party. The morning starts early tomorrow as we move to the line-up area for the beginning of the world’s largest street parade.

The band woke up at six thirty this morning to get ready to march in the London New Year's Day Parade. We had a wonderful time at the parade, and our performance Wednesday night is the talk of the town. Below, you can find links to some pictures taken of the band in the parade.
