Choices

Afew years ago, a guy at a school approached a group of three girls and said that he had a car. He asked if they wanted to cut school and go riding. Right then they all had a choice to make. Stay at school or go for a ride. It probably seemed like no big deal. How much could they miss by cutting out for a couple of hours? It sounded like fun. They chose to go with him. Well, that couple of hours turned into eternity. As the boy drove rather dangerously in the car he had stolen that morning, he ended up going off the road and all three girls were killed. The girls might not have known the car was stolen. Would that have mattered? We will never know. The choice was simple. It took them maybe a few seconds to say yes to his invitation. But the consequences were eternal.

We are faced with choices everyday. Sometimes they are simple, 'no big deal' kind of things. Sometimes the choice may seem like no big deal, but it turns out it is a big deal. Break the rules? Take an alcoholic drink? Smoke some pot? Give in to the boy friend who says he loves you and really wants to have sex with you? Take a ride with someone who you know is a little wild? Go someplace you're not supposed to? Cut school? This page is dedicated to helping teens recognize ways to make the right choices.
