Welcome Letter

I'm delighted to have your child in my class. I know this will be a very successful year and am really looking forward to it.

Your child will be bringing home their graded work every day. An assignment sheet will also be sent. A reading assignment in an assigned novel will be given every night. Any unfinished class work will also be listed on the sheet. I will let you know if it was work to be completed at school and not homework. This is an excellent means of communication between parent and school. So please watch for it daily. Also any work below 70% can be corrected and brought back for an averaged grade if they weren't able to understand the concept.

Students will be expected to read individually library books. At the end of three weeks, they will need to have finished a three-point library book. This is in addition to the assigned novels they are reading nightly. At the end of a six-weeks' reporting period, they will have earned six points in the Accelerated Reader program from the library.

My conference period is 10:55 a.m. 11:25 a.m. If you need to make an appointment, call the school, and I'll be glad to help answer any concerns. My home e-mail is ljport2@verizon.net. My e-mail at school is ljdavenp@ednet10.net . We also have a class web page that is www.geocities.com/mrsd4c. The web page can also be accessed off the Collinsville I.S.D.'s web page. I will have the homework posted on it daily as well as published work, news, a calendar, and links to areas we will be studying.

Again, this year proves to be an exciting learning experience. With parents and teachers working together, it can only benefit the children!
